Owner description: Alcantara Vineyards is a dream venture created by Barbara and husband Bob to provide their family and partners the opportunity to live the dream of growing a vineyard community and winery. It was in cultivating the vineyards and embracing the land that Barbara and her family soon realized there was a bigger picture in this hidden treasure along the confluence of two rivers. You’ll find Alcantara Vineyards has over 13,000 vines and offers 12 different varietals. While you sip wine and enjoy our peaceful surroundings, which include vineyards, a grass picnic area, the Verde River and bald eagles flying overhead, you’ll find you are part of our community and family.

We had a most enjoyable time at Alcantara. We were on the Woof, Wag'N, and Wine tour and this was one of the stops. Well, this was a fantastic stop. We enjoyed the wine, shopping, and a wonderful salad!! All while our pet could come along and have fun as well. There was a guy playing a guitar and made the day overall very special. Don't miss this place and their wine!!!

You will be driving up a semi gravel road to get there but nice views of the vines on the way up.The only true vineyard in Cottonwood, the others are storefronts in town. Nice outdoor seating giving you time to linger in the afternoon and enjoy the wine and views. The tasting room is well set up with a very knowledgeable wine informant. There is a fee for the tasting, hint would be to share a tasting between 2 of you. They have some nice blends, reds being our favorite we went home with a few. These are a tad bit pricier than the storefront tasting rooms but well worth it. Charlie Brown their winery dog is a great greeter and may even let you give him a treat from the wine lady.

Relaxed atmosphere and good wine to top it. Try to hit this room whenever we are in the area for wine tasting.

I didn't know what to expect when I first heard about wineries in Arizona. What? That's right - northern Arizona may not display the lush rolling hills of Napa Valley or castles of the Loire River Valley but you can have a very respectable glass of red or white produced by Alcantara Vineyard and look across the river to ancient rock dwellings of the Hohokam, Sinagua and Yavapai Indians. The hearty vines are planted up hillsides and down toward the rivers. In the historic town of Cottonwood, you'll find Pillsbury Wine Company in an historic building. Don't miss Javelina Leap and Oak Creek Vineyards down the road deep in the pines and oaks along the river. All the proprietors of the wineries are very friendly and very proud of their product. Some of the wines are well above average, even for discerning tasters. There is a small fee for a flight tasting - well worth it.

We kayaked down the Verde River to this magical vineyard to be greeted with a towel and glass of fine Rose. Our wine tasting and paring was the best I've ever enjoyed (and I sell and taste wine for a living...look out world, here come Arizona wine and it's fabulous). This is a definite "must do" when you're in the Sedona area. They also have a marvelous gift shop and I dare you to even try to not buy something...great stuff.
