Nice pool, large garden, great breakfast. The rooms were nice (we had adjacent rooms for us and the kids) though both the bathrooms were not appealing and a bit in contrast to the rest.

Knowing that we reserved the "compact" room, helped....it was small. But having said that, we really had enough room for the 2 of us and sharing the shower with the other guests was not a problem at all. But next time, I would definitely opt for the room with the 1/2 bath inside the bedroom, or splurge for the Honeymoon suite. Another couple celebrating their 20 anniversary reserved that suite, and after they left on Sunday morning, we checked it out and were quite impressed. A really nice room and I would highly recommend it if it's available!!

Everyone raved about Sebastian, but unfortunately, we only saw him for about 2 minutes when he let us in the gate. The week-end we were there, he had to travel to Phoenix for a travel convention, which left his wife Betty to deal with a house full of guests...on top of caring for a new born and another toddler....plus she also has another job outside the home....I'm really not sure how she does it. But Betty was super pleasant and the common areas for their guests are really spacious. The patio was also very relaxing and the pool looked inviting, although we didn't use it.

The only thing that disappointed me was the breakfast. I had heard about eggs, etc... when I read other reviews of the property, but we didn't get anything more than a basic continental breakfast. I thought maybe on Sunday morning we would be treated to an egg casserole or at least hard-boiled or scrambled eggs and/or ham, bacon or sausage. But they only served coffee, tea, milk, cereal, toast, bagels and english muffins. It was OK, but it really wasn't what I expected for $99/night in a small town like Cottonwood, AZ. But the china and cloth napkins were a nice touch!

The only other thing that seemed strange to us was their gate. Although it was a great security measure, and giving everyone a remote control was a great idea, it moved so slow that it really became annoying. I think they should consider upgrading the entrance gate.

All in all, we enjoyed the stay and would recommend it!

The Compact room does have a King size bed and we have actually been told that we should change the name as it is not so compact! (As people who stay in B&B's are sometimes in an old Victorian house where the bedroom is basically a closet!)

Glad to hear that sharing the shower was not a problem, and that has been the general comment by people who have never shared a shower with another room.

Yes, the Mid Size room is a step up, as is the Full Size room, another step up. Both come at a higher cost which enables us to accommodate guests with different requirements and budgets.

I am sorry that Sebastien was not around, as innkeepers, we have 1001 things that we have to do and promoting our business is one of those things. Sebastien and I share the different tasks that need to be done at our B&B, I do not know how I do it either! (We do have some great helpers who are there for us which enables me to be fully attentive to our guests during breakfast time!)

We provide and clearly advertize a continental breakfast which includes organic jams, cereals and breads, Activia yogurt as well as fresh juices and fruits. We sometimes do more than that, especially when we have guests that have dietary restrictions.

The gate does provide great security and privacy. Once we gather the $3000 needed to buy a commercial gate we will consider upgrading. Until then, the message that it sends is: "Slow down to the pace of a small town and relax"!

Thank you for your comments, we hope to have you come back to see our improvements which will be ongoing!

I would sugest to book more than a week ahead of time to be sure to get the Full Size room...

My two sisters, my two neices and I had a wonderful stay at the Desert Rose B&B! Comfortable beds, clean rooms, yummy breakfasts and a host that was more than willing to help us with directions or suggestions for our days in Jerome and in Sedona. The yard surrounding the B&B was so peaceful and serene, aside from a gobble here and there from their pet turkeys. Make sure to have a poached turkey egg for breakfast. Sebastien cooks them perfectly! The only negative to the stay was that the 2 bedrooms that shared the hall bathroom with each other were also asigned to another couple staying there those nights. I had thought that we would occupy all 3 of the bedrooms and not have to share with strangers. Oh well...live and learn to ask more specific questions. But all in all it is a great place to stay!

Thank you very much for your kind words!

Having the different rooms enables us to satisfy guests with different needs and budgets. Our smaller rooms have shared bathrooms (Although one of those has a private 1/2 bath), and our bigger room has a private palace as a bathroom which included a stand alone shower, Jacuzzi tub, double sink and walk in closet!

Come back soon!

This was my first bed and breakfast and I don't think I want to go back! We looked around in hotels/motels around the area, and for the price we paid, we got a way better deal. Sebastian was a most hospital host. He was willing to accommodate our special diet for breakfast which we really appreciated. The best part, I called him that same day telling him we would be there at 2AM and he was still very cool with it.

Thanks for a great experience and I hope to see you soon!

We are very glad to have made your first B&B experience a memorable one!

Our prices in comparison to the local motels whioch are OK at best are very competitive. If you compare to Sedona accommodation, you will see that our prices are about 1/2 of what would be charged for a comparison property with similar amenities and that is only 15 minutes away from the Desert Rose!

We accommodate our guest's arrival, dietary and other needs as best we can. We do understand that being flexible and accommodating is a top priority!

Come back soon!

We arrived on a wintry February day, snow falling in the mountains to the south and cancelling our plans for a trip to Jerome. No matter; there were lots of other things to do in the area. A cold but pleasant walk by the Verde River in a city park reminded us of why we live in southern Arizona! Our return to a warm pleasant room, a hot bath, and dinner out in a local steak house were a great finish for the day. Comfy bed and quiet room made for two restful nights.

We couldn't use the swimming pool as it was closed for the winter, but it looked inviting for the coming spring and summer. Two nice continental breakfasts at the inn, lunch at the nearby casino, and dinner at the hilltop airport restaurant in Sedona later, we left to return to our warmer Tucson home base.

We needed a quiet, restful getaway for a few days, and we got exactly what we wanted here. Sebastion was a good host, under the circumstances. He and Betty had a different guest arrive at about the same time we did: a new baby! He was able to be around to check on us to be sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay however. We did, and would love to go back one day.

You lucked out to have the ONLY day of the year where we had snow which lasted until noon and melted away after that!

We are very happy to have provided you with a quiet, restful getaway. We hope that it recharged your batteries!

Our helpers do enable us to make it all work, without help, it would be impossible for us to juggle it all!

Come back during the summer!

We stayed 4 terrific nights at the Desert Rose. Our room was extremely comfortable, with amenities you might only find in a higher priced establishment. For instance, there were fresh flowers in our room. Sebastian, the owner, went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. He had great advice for activities to fit our interests and equally great recommendations for places to eat. All in all we had a very relaxing stay.

We had a wonderful experience and we stayed there for Thanksgiving 2009 where a beautiful and delicious Thanksgiving Dinner was prepared by Betty & Sebastein. They made us feel like family.

Just coming into the closed gate and seeing all of the beautiful Turkey's running around and the B&B was just so quaint, relaxing and enjoyable. The location of this B&B is great when you want to see the surrounding area's Jerome and Sedona. We definitely recommend this B&B. We definatley will be back.

Thanks so much Sebastien & Betty. Sergio and Donna
