Dead horse is one of the best state parks in the area, with many different things to do. Arguably the best is a walk around the interesting countryside.

There has been so much growth around the edges of the lagoons it is almost impossible to fish anymore. Used to take the grandkids all the time because it was good, easy fishing and catching but no more.

We stayed here three nights in the summer. We pulled in and the people at the ranger station / check-in were very friendly and helpful. Our site was clean and had some shade. The other campers were nice, quiet, no problems.

It was convenient to drive over to the town with plenty of gas stations, Wal-Mart, etc...

We had fun fishing in various spots in the campground. Just a nice place. We had fun.

We stayed for six nights and had to move due to reservations conflicts, through no fault of the park. They did accomodated us to make the move as painless as possible. The staff was reasonably friendly and efficient, although we did end up with a violation notice when our mirror hanger fell on the dash, where it was fully visible. It was resolved in about 30 seconds. The spaces are all paved and vary in how level they are - most are generous in length, but you won't be parking anything side-by-side. The water and electricity were reliable. There are no sewer sites, but the dump is very handy, clean and was always available without waiting in line. We didn't use the river access, horseback riding or other services.
