This was our second time back & we don't live in the area. Great hummus & dolmas to start. Love their chicken kabob sandwiches. Owner & his wife waited on us and were lovely. We would definitely go back anytime. We just don't understand why both times we went at lunch we were the only ones there! I guess the location is not the best because it is not in the center of the square, but around the corner and can't really be seen. It needs better advertising out front and I have no doubt there would be more people there instead of at some of the other more typical and bland restaurants in the same area. Definitely worth the trip!

We loved the setting, it was entirely quiet on New Year's day. The server, he was a lilttle intense for us but we just watched what we said and it was ok.

We have eaten here numerous times over the past couple years. The lamb kofta is always fresh as well as every dish we have ever ordered has been. The lamb shank is excellent and if you want something lighter, the lamb shawarma is a good choice for lunch. The cuisine is an interesting blend of Turkish and Greek foods, with a bit of a reminder of the better Turkish restaurants in Tashkent. Carefree is such a quaint little town and it is fun to enjoy a bit of unique culture amidst the Western and Tex/Mex fare elsewhere. The service is always welcoming and very attentive.

In part, our fault perhaps, having not eaten there previously, the anticipation was more like Middle Eastern cusine (Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon) Vs. Saba's seemingly Greek influenced fare. (Nothing wrong with Greek fare, but that wasn't our expectation.) The earlier favorable reviews on this site further hyped our anticipation.

Ordering two main dishes, we were suprised that there were no "freebees"....like pita bread, for example. One of the main courses had both hummus & also baba (ghanoush). Both contained an excessive amount of garlic making both bitter to the taste (yes, there was pita bread served with that main course.). The "hummus/baba" comment is not consistant with easrlier favorable reviews on this site which may indicate uneveness in presentations. The other main course ordered was unremarkable. We didn't order any of the the kebabs...had we done that our experience may have been different.

Compared to Pars,The Persian Room, Eden Grill we found the prices at Saba's slightly higher and therefore less value for the money.

This unflattering review should not preclude visiting the eatery. The casual atmosphere and friendly service should make someone's experience OK.....I doubt if reservations are needed....an understatement is: The place was't busy!

Located in the Carefree Town Center....at least you can get to see the largest sun dial in the world which is located there!!!!
