“All I have to say is awesome . . . .”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

A group of us, 8 to be exact, had lunch at Palo Verde. It was a delight! (We had only heard about it from reviews on TripAdvisor :-).

The staff was wonderful, the round room was inviting, and the food was delicious.

It seemed like everyone had some sort of coffee, cappuccino or latte, and everyone RAVED about how good it was. I had their regular brewed coffee, black, and it was really good. We were very impressed, as it's usually not that good unless you go to a real coffee house.

Besides the coffees, everyone enjoyed the Tex-Mex lunch selections. I had the fish tacos, and they were so accommodating to my food allergies . . . just wonderful. The food was flavorful, and they were willing to make dishes extra spicy or more mello.

Maybe it's because it's a Waldorf Astoria Resort, but the staff and all the people working there were incredible . . . so friendly and willing to go the extra mile.

The surroundings at Palo Verde were gorgeous. There was outdoor seating, but it was a little cool the day we were there, so we didn't enjoy the patio as we would have liked, opting instead for the indoors. The views were gorgeous, even from the inside.

A little tip when entering The Boulders Resort to get to Palo Verde . . . . After checking in with security at the gate, go ALL THE WAY back, sticking to the right. We stopped too soon, but were able to park by the tennis courts and take a shuttle to the building/lobby where Palo Verde was located.

“Great breakfast”
Reviewed March 23, 2013 via mobile

Had breakfast at the Palo Verde during a stay at The Boulders (see separate hotel review). Opted for the buffet, which turned out to be a great choice (heard at least one person complain about the wait for an order from the menu, but everyone else seemed perfectly happy). All the usuals -- eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes. Everything I tried was well-made. They had a nice center table with fresh fruit, breads, cereals, yogurt, etc. Coffee was particularly good, and the service was spot on. Reasonably priced (for resort food). Would definitely go again.

Spectacular desert scenery, visited the restaurant as a non resident. Extremely impressed by
the quality and range of food. Service was very appropriate ,not overwhelming. Will definitely visit again although difficult to find without GPS.

“Great stop until you order meals”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

A gated country club type development, which oddly only asks for your first name to gain admittance. A spectacular desert landscape dominated by giant granite boulders. Santa Fe style architecture and the Waldorf Astoria name tag, what more could you ask for? Well above average table service for one. Food that makes your mouth want to say "WOW" instead of chew for another. Maybe even stunning interior design and silverware, china and crystal you wish you had at home. None of these things were checked on my dining check list. Even the restrooms seemed to be an afterthought. Compared to your average truck stop cafe the Palo Verde is very good. Compared to your average upscale Scottsdale resort, the restaurant does not stand out.

“Enjoyable Restaurant”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

We had a couple Breakfasts, one Lunch and 1 Dinner at Palo Verde and enjoyed each one. Breakfast while a little pricey was delicious I had the Huevos Rancheros both times because I enjoyed it so much. For lunch my guest thoroughly enjoyed the Burger and the Steak Tacos were tasty. For dinner I reccomend the Pork Belly App and the Chicken 2 ways with Gnocchi and Sage broth was very good. While not very busy this time of year service was prompt, friendly and professional.
