“What a great time and fun experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

I do not drink black teas or caffeine. However, that was not a problem here. They had many herbial/non caffeine teas to choose from. And they were very good. In addition to that, the surrounds are just amazing. My friend and I felt like we really were having a British High Tea. We chose to have the formal tea and it was well worth the price. The sandwiches were tasty and the scones were amazing. The top layer of little delicate desserts were delicious. I am very excited to have the memories and pictures of The English Rose Tea Room. Well worth the drive and price!

“Everyone will have a great time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2012

My mother had read about this tea room in an in-flight magazine. She really wanted to go there and she wanted all of us to go too. Dad tried to persuade her to make it just a mother and daughters thing, but she was determined and in the end, three generations and a guest piled into two cars and drove out to Carefree. The kids were sullen and intended to sulk the entire time in order to punish us for forcing them to go....then, we got there. We were greeted, sat down, chose some hats, ordered our tea, and had a wonderful time. The kids announced that they liked this place. They liked the sugar lumps and the individual pots of tea and the hats. It was all so authentically British. We are returning to Phoenix in July 2012 and the now we ALL want to take tea again at this lovely spot.
The food: the menu was varied and there was something for everyone in our diverse group. The food was not spectacular, but tasty enough, and it wasn't expensive. This is more about experience than eating, which makes it a great place to visit if you are watching your calories.

“A fun place to celebrate the diamond jubilee!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2012

We liked dressing up in hats and the fun atmosphere of all the decorations from England and the royalty there. The selection of teas were wonderful and delicate. The food was creative and delicious and fresh. We had a great time!

“Greeted by HRH”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2012

As you enter the front door of the English Rose Tea Room in Carefree, Arizona, you are greeted by a life-sized cut-out of HRH Queen Elizabeth dressed in proper "tea" apparel. You then enter a room filled ceiling to floor with tea products, tea accessories, and British imports. The tea room is reminiscent of those high-brow “parlors” we see in British television series set with fine bone china of every pattern. The tea list is extensive and served properly – I even remembered to raise my “pinkie” finger! However, the food was a real disappointment. The sandwich fillings were so skimpy that the only way to tell the different flavors was to look at the color: pink must be salmon, white some kind of cheese, green – cucumber! The tomato-bisque soup tasted like canned with a few additives. But, the scones were much better, fresh and huge but had a slight taste of leavening that was covered by the thick cream and strawberry jam.
