Stayed here overnight and was very pleasantly surprised, rooms were spacious, lovely walled garden, good views over the river and a great atmosphere. Managed to spend quite a bit of money at the Trading Post, the Indian Rugs were fantastic and particularly liked the display areas. Food was quite good and reasonable and service good quality. All in all a great overnight package put together for visitors and locals alike.

Only disappointment is that we could not walk across the old bridge, that would be a highlight.

To make it short - had many stays in different motels/hotels (chains + private owned) during our various vacations in the US of A. The room we had at the Grand Canyon Hotel located at the Cameron Trading Post was stunning at a decent price and on top of all the recent stays in motels/hotels we had in the past.
Stayed there the last 3 days in September 2013 (lucky, lucky - on October 1st the government shutdown happened). Nice southwest-style interior furnishing with woodcarved ornaments, pictures on the wall, absolutely cozy ambience and very very clean. A big tidy bathroom with many fluffy towels. In the convenient beds we had a deep sleep during the nights and relaxed wakeups in the morning.
OK - no complimentary breakfast or coffee is offered, but a coffee maker was in the room.

The staff at the check-in was absolutely friendly and did their job in a very uncomplicated way. After we had entered our room and saw, what we got, I went back to the check-in, told the manager that we are absolutely satisfied with the room and he was very pleased to hear this. A very friendly and helpful guy (forgot his name) and it was a nice conversation. To me he seems to be that kind of manager, who keeps his business running, solves problems as fast as he can and he ensures that the customers are satisfied.

The whole area where the hotel, the restaurant, the biggest gift-store we ever saw etc. are located is well-kept and absolutely clean.
We had a pleasant stay and a very good reasonably priced dinner with a fast attentive service at the restaurant (the grilled liver with onions, mashed potatoes and salad was delicious). The restaurant is nicely decorated with Indian arts and rugs on the walls and although the room is very spacious, we had a cozy feeling during our dinner.

The Cameron Trading Post is a good starting point for visiting the Grand Canyon. The 30+ minutes drive to the GC compensates the expensive rates at the overcrowded motels/hotels in the GC National Park.
But - for travelers, who expect nightlife, party or similar things at the end of the day, the location is not recommendable.

have stayed here before and was not disappointed either time, decent price for very clean/comfortable room, attached restaurant is very good... store has lots of kitch for the tourists along with true native crafts, beware what you buy... depending on staff not always reliable, but most will guide you to real stuff

Room Tip: get room overlooking canyon, you will be pleased with views... sunsets can be incredible

After stopping to eat here for decades (and visit the gardens) we finally stayed overnight. Never in even a resort have I seen such detail in construction: carved headboards, matching nightstands, carved wood over the drapes, heavy beams over vanity and closet...plus artwork, baskets, and all with the view of the Little Colorado right outside. Towels were spa-quality plus and thick, everything worked well, clock, coffeepot, water pressure and abundant outlets. Wifi, too! Cameron Trading Post has all the charm of the past, and all the convenience of the present. I will definitely be back. Even heard a canyon wren in the morning, which isn't exactly the hotel's doing, but is in the fact that it's situated on the edge of the canyon! Still love the tin ceiling detail in the dining room, the pie, the huge fireplace we sat by for dinner as well. Great desk service.
I always browse the gift shop. Trading post still in original family's hands. Love this place.

Room Tip: We loved the view of the Little Colorado, but the gardens are so lovely that I doubt there's a b...

Compared to other rural hotels, this was better than average.
But compared to hotels in general, it's below average.
Room was clean, but some of the towels, were old and had stains.
The Room was large, and the bed was a little firm for my taste. Pillows were sub-par.
But the cleanliness of the room, and the quick check in process was great.

Stopped for lunch on our way from Monument Valley to Phoenix. My husband and I both ordered the taco salad. Very good food. The resturant is in the back of the gift store and quite a surprise. Nice dining room, big stone fireplace and embossed tin ceilings, decorated in Native American motive. I peeked at other diners food and everything looked good, especially the Navajo tacos which were huge. Thoroughly enjoyed browsing the gift store. Found a great lamp on the bargain table!

Stopped after dark on our way out of Grand Canyon. Needed a dog friendly spot and this was it. Pleasant rooms with Kokopelli decorating touches. We grabbed takeout tacos from. The restaurant and they were served with fry bread instead of tortillas..delicious!

Awakened at midnight from a sound sleep by the sound of water running down the walls from the shower above us! Security arrived promptly after our phone call and moved us to next room so not much sleep was lost.

Comfortable rooms, not luxurious but good value. When I took the dog out in AM I was blown away by the canyons and scenery. Pleasant experience overall.
