“Great fast food fare”

Jimmys hot dogs is a welcome addition to Bisbee. Having lived in the Chi-town area for several years, I say that their dogs and Polish sausage compare favorably to anything in Chicago.

“The only REAL fast food in Bisbee”
Reviewed June 20, 2008

If you've spent any time in Bisbee, you've learned quickly that while the town is brimming over with character, food options are pretty slim. With so few choices, locals quickly learn not only where to go, but what to order when you get there.

While Jimmy's may not have a huge menu, what they have is consistantly good, the restaurant is always spotless and the staff SUPER friendly and helpful. I love the italian sausages (try them served "wet" (which means they dip the bun in beef juice). The Chicago dogs are served real-chicago-style, down to the emerald green relish and celery salt.

And the fries! OMG, the fries - the best in Bisbee. Skinny, tasty, and tons of them! Try a Lottsa to share, but be sure you don't wait to eat your share, they will be gone when the rest of your friends realize how good they are.

Seriously, while Jimmy's isn't a 5 star restaurant (don't expect steak or lots of side dishes, although they are bringing in locally made deserts on a regular basis), it's a /great/ little hot dog joint, focusing on doing what they do well.

It's one of the locals' favorite lunch stops, and that says something about the quality of food, the value, and the friendliness of the staff.

After living a couple years in Chicago, this ain't it. My wet beef was dry, and the a jus had no flavor. My wife could not even bite into her hot dog without ripping it out of the bun. Never again.

“My Number 2 Place to Eat In Bisbee (only behind Roka!)”
Reviewed April 6, 2008

When people think of eating in Bisbee, the first thing that comes to mind is the Cafe Roka. Now, I will say that Rod puts on a good spread at the Roka... however, Jimmy does a good job down the hill in San Jose.... Not the same kind of thing mind you... just good food, at a reasonable price.

Jimmy's is my kind of place. There are older residents, as well as some pretty good kids from Bisbee High School, working here. If a tourist REALLY wants to meet a true "local", come to Jimmy's. Sit down with the people, share a dog and a story... this is TRULY southern Arizona.

If Jimmy is around (and trust me, you can't mistake him for anyone other than Jimmy!), ask him about why he started this restaurant. Ask him about his other job (deputy fire chief of Naco) and get him to tell you a story or twelve. When I told him that I put him at number two behind Roka, he almost stopped breathing as he was laughing so hard!

If you want to take a date to a fine, sit down meal, eat at Roka. If you want a fine meal that you can sit down and enjoy... eat at Jimmy's... if you look over in the corner, you might even see Rod from Roka sitting down with a nice bratwurst, topped with spicy mustard and kraut!

“Great cheap eats in Bisbee!”
Reviewed October 26, 2007

Jimmy's makes great hot dogs! They have a limited menu but everything they make is top notch. Hot dogs, Polish Sausage, Italian Beef sandwiches, Meatballs, Bratworst etc. Also Italian Ice and Pretzels....
The owner worked at the original "Jimmy's" chicago style hot dog and Italian beef stand in Chicago 40 years ago and he and his wife have done a great job of bringing that taste experience to Bisbee. They use good quality Kosher dogs, great buns and handcut fries. The fries come in two sizes... Lotsa and Tubba. Husband and I ate lunch for $10 - and it was GOOOOD! Can't beat that!
