This was a fun informative tour. Our tour guide had mined here for 21 years before mine closed. He was a wealth of information. Kids would love the tram ride 1500' into the mountain. Good value and time for all

You begin the tour by dressing in a bright yellow raincoat, helmet, flashlight and battery pack, and then get on board the little train for the trip underground at the historic copper mine. People are seen cuddling their little ones because the temps drop about 50 degrees on hot summer days. The tour guides are retired miners, who spent many years pulling out copper ore in this very mine. See the equipment they used, including the honey wagons the miners used for bathroom breaks. The tour is a ton of fun, both for adults and kids. You will learn so much about mining in general and truly appreciate the job these men did in copper's heyday. Handicapped visitors can participate in all but one stair-climbing areas and should not be dissuaded from going.

Former miners give this hourlong tour, which takes you back into the mine and gives a real feel for the hard job they had.
