Probably because of "liability" concerns, there are fewer and fewer tours one can take in mines. Our guide, a former miner, was excellent. A wonderful, educational, and FUN experience for all ages.

Try the historic Copper Queen Hotel for lunch, peruse the many artisan shops, and visit the BISBEE MINING & HISTORICAL MUSEUM.

Bisbee makes a fine day trip from Tucson. (about 90 minutes to the southeast).

I thought this was brilliant. From the getting dressed up in the weatherproofs, mining hats and lights. Then sitting on the little train and going into the mine. About 1500 feet I think. Our tour guide was about 90 and fab. He had actually worked in the mine so was very knowledgeable about the tour. We stopped in two places inside the mine. I was like being on the train going through Gringotts Bank from Harry Potter or an Indianna Jones film. It was freezing down there so we were glad to get back to the top and have a hot chocolate. Well worth while tour.

Very interesting. Enjoyed the tour and the great gift store. Don't pull the shower handle though. You'll get wet!
