What a great place to spend New Years 2013 ! The hotel staff were absolutely wonderful and worked with us to get a great room. Even though we didn't experience any ghosts at the hotel, it was still an enjoyable experience just staying at such an old and historic hotel.

Had the very nice opportunity to stay here for 10 days in December 2012. The town is great, weather fantastic and the accommodations were very good. I was there on business with 3 rooms. The restaurant staff was efficient and friendly as was the saloon staff. Beds were nice and comfortable. Only major drawback was the hot water. 2 of the rooms had problems off and on and with the morning temps in the 30's it wasn't pleasant. Wonderful history at the hotel, in the town and surrounding country side.

Room Tip: I was in 305 and the water was hot and plentiful. My companions were in 310 and 316.

We had a great evening last Thursday on the Ghost Tour with Jennifer and Renee. We got to see all the haunted rooms in the hotel and hear their stories, then go up in the tower to see the Ghost Hunters video, and then had equipment to wander freely in the haunted floors. It was great!

We went to Bisbee for the Lavender and Lace Ball. We stayed at the Copper Queen that exudes charm from days gone by. The staff was courteous and the room as you would expect, small but very adequate. The private bath is a step up from the 1800's as well I'm sure. Be ready to step back in time and enjoy your stay!

My husband and I were part of a group of couples staying at the hotel for training. We found the staff helpful and courteous, the food was tasty and priced at a great value, the dining room is quaint and offers outside dining. I strongly recommend making dinner reservations as the tables fill quickly. We had a great time at the bar and found the drinks well made and the bartendar friendly. There was a music festival going on in Bisbee so each night we enjoyed live entertainment. It is an easy to walk to the local brewery or several bars in town if the Copper Queen Saloon doesn't suit your style. We did and still found ourselves back at the Copper Queen Saloon.

We did not pay for the room so I can't speak to quality for price. Keep in mind the hotel is over 100 years old (opened in 1908). It was not a problem for us but the walls are not thick so you can hear people leaving their room, which was no big deal to me. We stayed on the fourth floor (the active floor). The only strange report I can provide was the smell of cigarette or cigar smoke around midnight on our Friday night. Mind you, no one was smoking in the room or on the floor. Maybe it was the gentlemen ghost enjoying his nightly cigar!!

If you are travelling to Bisbee I highly recommend a visit to this hotel, whether you need overnight accommodations or not. The lobby has a small collection of mining memorabilia and is rather quaint, and Angelina's serves great food. The hotel is behind the mining musuem which we also visited and would recommend. Their gift shop is non-profit so purchases are tax-free, unlike many of the other shops in town.

Room Tip: The fourth floor towards the back was really quiet. The bed was comfortable. Bring your own blowdr...

Hubby and I stopped over for a late lunch though we were not staying at the Bisbee Grand. Barmaid was an absolute riot to have a good time with. We stayed for an hour and had lively conversation with everyone we met. Nachos were large enough to share and Dave's IPA was so good! Barmaid poured me a taste of a vanilla porter--next time I must have that in my glass! We will defintely make this a 'norm' for us to stop in and enjoy. We did not get to sit on the patio, but we would have loved to--people watching and waving is just the ticket for us!

We did not stay at the hotel, but did have dinner at the restaurant. We both ordered the stuffed Pork Tenderloin in an excellent cream sauce. One salad was fresh and crisp, and the cream soup was very good, both accompanied by a fresh bread basket & butter.

We heard the couple behind us ask for the same selection, only to be told that we had the last two tenderloins available that day.

When we received our dinners, though the server did not say a word, it was a bit embarrassing to see one of the tenderloins at least twice the size of the other.

The dinners were flavorful and one was plentiful.

The restaurant manager came by and asked if all was well ..... I mentioned that one dinner was more than twice the size of the other ..... and she did not offer to adjust the price or anything, just that they were the last two pork tenderloins....

Service was Ok ....... the outside location was enjoyable.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Copper Queen Hotel, built in 1898 and completed in 1902, was the product of a booming mining camp called Bisbee. Once the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco, Bisbee is now a beautiful and quiet getaway. While the town of Bisbee has "grown" it has not lost its' charm. Soon after Bisbee became a town, Phelps Dodge Mining Company built the Copper Queen Hotel as a place for dignitaries and investors to relax in luxury. Construction was difficult because Phelps Dodge had to blast away and clear a large portion of the mountainside in order for building to begin. Although the most modern and up to date materials were used, it did not lessen the difficulty of each task. In order for concrete to be mixed, water had to be pumped up the hill from the mercantile, what is now called Copper Queen Plaza, on Main Street. The walls were constructed to be nearly 2 feet thick, which helps keep the hotel cool during the summer months. Once the Hotel was completed, anyone who walked through the doors would notice the mosaic tile from Italy. Since the Hotel was built in an Italian style, the tile was installed throughout the entire first floor lobby. The remaining tile can be seen in the Hotel entrance. As the story goes, the cathedral ceiling in the Palm Room was all fitted with Tiffany glass. Nobody knows when it came down or what happened to it. There was an open air hallway behind two large windows along the southeast wall that acted as air conditioning for that era. The front desk was fabricated out of Tiger Oak and was surrounded with a wrought iron security cage. The unique safe behind the desk was once used at the Copper Mine until it became too small for the company payroll, which was all paid in cash. It was then passed down to the Copper Queen Hotel. Phelps Dodge cleverly paid their employees in cash, to have their money quickly returned to them in goods and drinks. The Copper Queen Hotel was one of the most modern hotels in the West during that time. One can only imagine what changes the Hotel has gone through to accommodate the modern day traveler. Located roughly 100 miles southeast of Tucson and at an elevation of 5,300 feet, the Hotel is usually 10 to 20 degrees cooler than in Tucson or Phoenix. In the winter, we are even blessed with an occasional snowfall. Bisbee is the southern most mile high city in the U.S. And is eight miles from the border of Mexico. Although the Copper Queen Hotel has maintained the ambiance of the Victorian Era Old West, it has been renovated with modern day conveniences to make your stay more comfortable. ... more   less
