Our jetboat tour up the Stikine River with Jim from Alaska Waters was great. His boat is comfortable & has a bathroom! Worth the money to experience a small slice of this wilderness area. We saw bald eagles, spawning salmon, glacially carved valleys, snow capped peaks, and icy blue Stack Glacier. The boat was able to thread its way among blue ice chunks on the lake below the glacier. The day started off foggy, but partially cleared making the lighting perfect. An unforgettable experience.

Went with John Taylor of Summit Charters and had a great trip. The best part of the trip was Shakes Glacier.

Eric is a great guide and boat driver. Highly recommend them, look at their reviews. Very safe, but also exciting.

We took a half day trip up the Stikine River, starting out from Wrangell. We are very experienced wildlife & National Park fans, having now visited 50 of the US National Parks. On this trip, we spent 7 weeks seeing the wonders of Alaska. In that context, we found the Stikine River nice and interesting but somewhat ordinary compared to the other wonderful National Parks in Alaska. On the River trip, we saw one wolf from a distance, one whale, and a bunch of harbor seals. The scenery was below average for Alaska. E.G. the scenery in Kanai Fijords NP was awesome.

On a separate trip we went to Anan, and that was great.

This is a very beautiful river with many sloughs (contributing creeks and smaller rivers). Up one of the sloughs you'll be in the end of a glacier; full of icebergs. Another place to stop is Chief Shakes Hot Springs, 2 beautiful structures (one is covered and has a bug screen) in which to sit and soak and look at the view. This was just great.
