“Nice for the view”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

We stayed one night in July, 2012. The hotel is nicely located. Neat and clean. We had double beds, but, the bed size was little weird, tall but narrow. Asked for two queen beds, but, the lady said was not available. The view from the room was great. View from the cafeteria was awesome too. The diner menu was short and pricey. Didn't find the food as awesome as the view. The Prince Williams Sound boat trip glacier tour was very close.
Overall nice stay.

We stayed here on a Saturday evening after doing the Glacier Quest cruise (Phillips Cruises). We were able to use their parking while on the cruise and not park at the fee area. We had both dinner and breakfast in the dining room and highly recommend it (actually nothing else is available in Whitter). We left Sunday on the ferry for Valdez.

It took several years to finish construction of the facilty. Had taken cruises often into Whittier and wondered when they would finish. It was worth the wait. They do have an elevator

An interesting building with lots of character in a dramatic setting at the head of an inlet and a short distance from the 2.5 mile one way tunnel into Whittier.Very close to the shipping terminal and wharf-the Island Princess arrived while we were staying and we had the pleasure of watching it depart as we had dinner
The room was spacious and reasonably comfortable but would be better if there were some chairs or couch .Splendid views from the front rooms and good food in the restaurant. The town itself is shabby with nothing much in the way of shops or other facilities but Whittier is a good base for taking in the wonderfull scenery in the area down to Seward and surrounding areas south of Anchorage. No frig in the room but guests have access to a communal frig in the corridor and ice .

Room Tip: pay the extra for a front room-the back rooms look out on to some ramshackle buildings and drab rail...

We stayed here for 2 nights before getting on a cruise ship. The hotel is located, literally, right next to the cruise ship which made it VERY convenient the day we boarded the ship. We walked over to the inbound cruise and borrowed 2 luggage carts, loaded them up and wheeled them right up to the entry way of the ship.
Everything in Whittier is pretty much in walking distance.
The restaurant here was fantastic. We were a little surprised at how good and eleborate the food was in the dining room considering you are so remote. The bar food was good, too.
Our room was a nice and clean. The view was unbelievable.
Each person we encountered at the Inn was extremely friendly and helpful.
Would stay here again, even at the higher end price. It was WORTH it.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get a bay view room !!!

The friendly, energetic young staff and new owner welcomed us warmly and worked hard to make our stay positive. From the front desk worker, to the bartender, to the servers, everyone was conversational and interesting, willing to take a few minutes to make us feel at home. The stunning views from the huge windows in the bar and dining room of the harbor, mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, and eagles take one's breath away. The food is fresh and plentiful; we loved the grilled halibut sandwich served in the pleasant atmosphere of the bar, relaxing music playing in the background, after an invigorating hike up Portage Pass with incredible photo opportunities. The charm and quaint detail pleasantly surprised us. Whittier's a hidden gem of Alaska!

If you are staying in Whittier, this is the place to stay. It is just as charming in person as the pictures! Our room was very nice and had a great view of the water. The restaurant was limited in what they offered, but the bar offers hamburgers and more bar food.

Whittier is a very small town. We accidentally ran into this hotel and it turned out to be a great place to stay. The room was very nice, offered great mountain views. We went to Whittier to do the 26 glacier cruise and this hotel is walking distance from the cruise port. Parking is also free at the hotel. The hotel is just after you exit from the Whittier tunnel. Highly recommended if you are looking to stay in Whittier.

Room Tip: I think all rooms have either a mountain view or the harbor view - you can ask for the room of your...
