At first glance this is your basic family diner, but the owners attention to detail shows in every bite.
Food is homemade wherever possible. Order from the specials board for the most interesting food and if you're fortunate enough to see borsch be sure you try their version of this delectable soup.
Both the back and front staff are well trained, professional and friendly. They do their job well even when busy. An extra room in the back ensures a short wait for this popular place.

We haven't been back in a couple years after witnessing terrible behavior from the owner. Heard the place was under new ownership. That wasn't true as confirmed by the waiter. The food was decent. I had a ribeye steak that was perfectly cooked and my wife had halibut that she thought was a little over cooked. Kid has a chicken burger and she said it was dry. We may go back again; in a pinch....we will see.

Nothing special on the outside as they saved it all for the inside. However, there is plenty of parking! The staff was attentive, efficient and friendly. The locals were especially friendly. When I went to the bathroom before leaving, my wife was spotted sitting alone and invited over to the local area to sit with the other women. She mentioned she was just waiting for me and was told, that's okay, he can go sit with the guys! The menu is similar to IHOP and was surprisingly (given that it is in Alaska) a bit less expensive. The food was very tasty. I would eat here again!

How on earth did this restaurant get categorized under Asian cuisine on Trip Advisor? It is more appropriately labeled American or comfort food, since the menu and ambiance are like an IHOP type restaurant. For example, breakfast is available all day, special menus and pricing are offered for seniors and children. Entrees include familiar fare like fried chicken, fish and chips, burgers.

The day we visited, there were clearly lots of regulars there in groups or as singles reading the newspaper which is stocked up for others to read or leave.

I ordered the patty melt and fries, my husband a salad and liver and onions (with bacon) and our friend had the hot roast beef sandwich (both latter entrees served with mashed potatoes and gravy). Two children had a burger and toasted cheese, both with fries. The cost for the five of us was $60 with tip.

All portions (even the children's) were enormous and everything was steaming hot to the table (except the French fries which were tepid and lackluster). Service was attentive and responsive to orders, follow up, and billing.

The restaurant and its restrooms were very clean. All tables were cleared right away.

This restaurant does well what it sets out to do. No pretensions, no surprises.
