Small good museum, a lot of information. Do not miss the part dealing with Old Valdez and the earthquake.

this is not just a small town museum. it is beautifully displayed with articles and artifacts that can appeal to all interest and age levels. staff is very knowledgeable. there are three museums in town. the partner to this one concentrates on Old Valdez and Valdez before the 1964 earthquake. there is a museum at the community college which supposedly has the largest collection of native artifacts in the state. some say the world. i could have easily spent more time in all three. other visitors were also very impressed. these museums could be at home in the state's larger or more touristed cities

Take time to visit this small museum - packed with history and artifacts. I always hit museums in any city I visit - this one keeps me coming back.

You get admission to the Old Valdez museum down the street. This is a really nice museum, recreations of miners cabins, old saloon, history of the area including the oil spill. If you're here and need a place to spend a rainy afternoon, this is a great place.

We enjoyed spending about an hour in this small town, and especially the video of the earthquake which is why they had to relocate the whole town. It makes the trip worthwhile and a lot more interesting to know what happened to them. Very important to see if you go to Valdez.
