Description: This local bakery is nestled in a little hill on the back side of Valdez, AK. Here you will find pastries and espresso served in a building that was built in 1902 and relocated after the 1964 earthquake. At Magpies Bakery you can satiate your sweet tooth, grab a breakfast sandwich to go, or simply hang about on your wireless internet while warming up on a rainy day with a cup of coffee, or a warm bowl of soup.

This is the best bakery in town. They even serve gluten free items. Super yummy and great coffee and lunch too.

This adorable bakery is just missing the mark each time I go in. Everything on display looks amazing but the taste just doesn't reflect that. The girls that work the counter are quiet and not particularly friendly. It really is a shame and I want to like this place but the beautiful facility just doesn't make up for the bland food and dismal service.

The chicken wrap was great but the manager was rude to her staff and customers. Won't be going back!

Come early for the best selection (but not too early, Maggie is a new mom and sometimes her schedule varies). About 1 hour after opening is perfect. Sometimes he pastries are still cooling on the rack do if you don't see anything in the case just ask her what she had. Scones are good all day. The cinnamon rolls are best while still warm. Coffee shop atmosphere is very cozy. Saw someone write a bad review about the breakfast sandwiches but I think they are delicious.

Owner was rude to her staff in front of guests. Breakfast sandwich was a piece of frozen microwaved sausage that tasted horrible on a bagel that was dried out and cold scrambled eggs that were microwaved as well and over melted chewy cheese. Decent coffee. Tasted like gas station food. Another patron said that their breakfast pastries were sold out the day before but they ordered a sandwich and it was good. Bathroom downstairs in an old house that looked like someone was living down there and smelled like garbage. Not sure about the cleanliness of the place.
