Luckily it is impossible to drive to Valdez from Copper Center and miss Keystone Canyon. The milepost book identifies each waterfall and you should be careful jumping out of the car at each chance to photograph them. There are some pullouts so wait for them.

This is a road and river canyon into the Valdez area. It has two great waterfalls and many smaller ones. The rock walls are fascinating. We drove it twice (two occasions) and stopped at the wide waterfall turnouts. Then on the second occasion, we turned around went back to the beginning and drove it again more slowly so we could see it better. It is only several miles long, but it is a main highway and sometimes the traffic wants to go through quickly. Stop also at the old hand-cut railroad tunnel that was not completed because of a feud and gunfight.

Awesome can't describe this Canyon. 4 beautiful waterfalls to take photos of just off the highway so they are easy to see and take photos of. Lots of history too with the old railroad tunnels.

I always look forward to looking at the waterfalls in Keystone Canyon, especially Horsetail Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. We like to stop and just sit at the bottom of Horsetail Falls whenever we have time, and just enjoy watching the water cascading down or enjoy the ice waterfalls in the winter time.

The Richardson Highway to/from Valdez passes directly through Keystone Canyon around milepost 12. There are several wide parking areas along the road. Be sure to stop at least briefly and enjoy the magnificent series of waterfalls.
