I have just come back from a weeks holiday to this hotel with my partner and 9 other friends. I had read mixed reviews on this hotel before going but found any concerns I had soon went away once we got there.
The hotel was extremely clean - they were just constantly cleaning everywhere!
The food was superb. There is such a variety, I cannot see how anyone could not find something to eat from the vast selection on offer, and none of us were ill from any pharaohs revenge that is common when visiting Egypt. The staff are really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. On the first day I went up to reception to ask for extra pillows, and for the safe to be unlocked (the last people left it locked) and by the time I had walked back to the room, the pillows were on the bed and the safe unlocked! The only down side I would say are the rooms are not UK 5 star standard, more like a 3 star, but having said that it had everything you needed and was very clean. All of us said the beds were very hard, but then some people like their beds that way! and the actual resort is an oasis literally in the middle of the desert. It had a spa/fitness centre and it had a lot of entertainment if you wanted to be more active. We just wanted to go diving and chill out, so it was perfect, but there is nothing outside the hotel if you wanted to go out for a while.
All in all we had a great time. We ate, drank and chilled out and was extremely happy with our great value for money all inclusive package.

Myself & my parents stayed at Brayka Bay for a week in March. We had two ground floor twin rooms with plenty of space & big bathrooms. The rooms were cleaned very well everyday. The grounds are maintained really well with staff looking after the flowers everyday.

The buffet restaurant was quite big with a really good choice of food. At breakfast there was hot food, eggs, omlettes, cereal as well as the biggest spread of delicious pastries! For lunch & dinner there was a good choice of pasta, potatoes, salad, meats cooked inside & on the outside grill. The food was really good & as a vegetarian I didn't once have trouble eating a good amount. There was also plenty of desserts to choose from. As it got busier there were times when there were no plates, milk for cereal & other things but if you mention it to someone they will sort it out asap. You help yourself to soft drinks, wine & spirits in the restaurant which was good as you didnt have to wait around for a drink anytime. The waiters in the restaurants were extremely efficient & very friendly.

There was a lovely sized pool & we never once had trouble getting sunbeds. The beach is lovely & really big & most people went there everyday. There's a pool bar & beach bar serving drinks from 10:00am. The Tiffany bar serves tea & cakes in the afternoon & drinks are all-inclusive until midnight. The only problem we found was that the cocktail list consisted of 4 cocktails which were not overly night but there is wine & other spirits included.

The shows were really good (despite other reviews we had read)! The staff tried hard & really put on good shows. There was a disco after every show which went on until 1am but drinks in the disco are not included so we got drinks from the Tiffany bar & took them in, that was no problem.

There was many nationalities at the hotel, mostly Russian & Italian but also French, Swedish, Ukranian. There were only around 12 other British when we stayed.

All in all we had a great week & would definately go back!!

Stayed at Brayka Bay 4th through 11th of March 2010 and having read the reviews before we left (helped us to choose the Hotel in the first place) we were not at all disappointed. The Hotel is well established and I would not agree that the rooms are old, dated perhaps, but as we always find in Egypt, clean and comfortable. The pool area is excellent and we spent the week sitting relaxing (Temperature as high as mid 30’s) swimming in the pool and walking along the extensive sea front (1km?) enjoyed by the Hotel and got the total relaxation we wished for. We heard no news of any tummy bugs, were sensible in what we ate and how we approached hygiene, which you should always be, especially in such a hot climate, and enjoyed the whole experience (The fish is especially good and nearly always an option) Did not go snorkelling, although we went prepared, because the swim out was a little too much for us and we have probably been spoilt by Fort Arabesque, (best snorkelling found in Egypt and RIGHT on the beach) Only down side and I think we were unlucky here, was the mechanical rock breaking which was taking place every day, but they will probably be finished by now (Just our luck!) but this is a new resort and building will be ongoing in Marsa Alam for many years to come. In the meantime, enjoy the airport experience, it is all new and they have so few flights, that travelling through is easy peasy!!
P.S. The bird life in and around the hotel is excellent, 27 species noted, but if of interest, take your own bird book!

Just back from a week at Brayka Bay. Having read some negative reviews we were a bit concerned however there was nothing to worry about. Apart from some cloud on the 1st day [it was still hot] we had good weather although sometimes windy. We wanted a week of peace and quiet so being in the middle of nowhere was what we wanted.
We spent our days on the beach, no problem getting sunbeds, fantastic snorkelling. The room was spotless and cleaned to a high standard daily. Yes the beds were hard, but that didn't stop us sleeping well. I was in the sea by 7.30 mosgt mornings as this was the best time for snorkelling, the amount of fish need to be seen to be believed.
We both had 2 sport massages, yes they cost but are well worth it. We also paid to eat the moonlight menu at the hemingway restaurent, for 2 this cam to just under £90, it did include a lobster each and some of the largest prawns i've seen.
We went on the shuttle gto ythe nearest town, my advice is dont bother a long trip wiyh little reward at the end.
All the staff were helpful and polite. Having been all inclusive before we were impressed with the quality and choice available. The pancakes at breakfast were superb with grated cocunut.
Wouls we go again???? YES we would and are looking at Sept this year.
PS dont bgo if you want nightlife.....there isn't any, but that was what we liked

We stayed at Brayka bay for 2 fantastic relaxing weeks whilst it was freezing back home. The snorkeling was that good that i was in the sea 3 times a day. The sea was beautifully calm, clear with loads of fish. We saw 15 turtles in 3 different types, octopus, squid, a massive (6') baracuda and similar sized ray. The coral was really colourful and in excellent condition. It was best to go on the south side 1st thing on the morning as this side could easily become cloudy later but it appeared to have more larger fish. The north side was always calm with good views of the coral and smaller fish, but both sides were excellent..
The hotel itself was a fantastic price, £600 for a fortnight for each of us. It worked out more expensive staying in a travel lodge near the airport. There were areas that could have been improved such as the grouting in the bathroom, but would we really have wanted to pay a lot more for little niggles like these. The rooms were clean but basic, we had towel-art created every couple of days by our room cleaner.
When we arrived in our room, i would have liked an extra pillow, i requested it at the reception and 30 seconds after i had walked back to my room it was delivered - excellent service. The beds were hard but i slept like a log dropping off instantly.
We enjoyed the food although we have had better elsewhere.
My wife really enjoyed the massages, went there 3 times, the masseur was much superior to any she had used back home.
The grounds were pleasent to wander around with some nice birds, good views of 2 different kingfishers and osprey.
We went on a couple of trips through the dive centre, good prices, disappointed with one due to the sea conditions (windy and choppy on that day) rather than the trip itself, but the house reef is that good that it is difficult to compare.
We were exhausted on the evening after so much time in the sea but did go the animation teams version of the Blues Brothers, a good effort and enjoyable.
As with most of the red sea resorts, you either love it as we did or hate it, there is little to do outside of relaxing and being in the sea during the day. There is nothing outside of the hotel, you are in the desert.

Overall Excellent holiday, fantastic reef, some very good staff, stunning price.

On entering the hotel we were impressed with the lobby area very big and spacious with a massive chandelier in the centre of the high ceiling.Once we got to our room we were very dissapointed, the decor was dull, green walls green doors and frame work.the mattress on the beds were hard and the fridge didnt work, this did get sorted out the next day though. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard and we had fresh towels every day.there is a hairdryer in the bathroom which is quite powerful, beach towels are also available every day. most of the staff were very friendly only a few let the side down.would i stay at this hotel again? sadly no, i did expect more in the way of standards of the rooms. The restaurant juice machine was dirty and could of done with wiping over every now and again. i dont mean to be picky but i am used to nice things, i will definatly do my research next time i book, this didnt float my boat.my husband will now give his opinion, most probably different from mine. ditto on somethings above, room, juice machine etc but for me the plus`s far outweighed the minus`s. the food was excellent everyday, variety and taste etc. the bay for resort privacy and the snorkelling is a must, your very own tropical tank in your face, you are actually inside the fish tank here. we found it hard later in the evening to be entertained, it could do with a pub theme or something to finish the day off. most staff great, grounds beautiful, not far from being a complete resort from morning till bedtime. check with locals before you buy trips as we got a boat trip to the same place as the operator for a 3rd of the price!!!!

Stayed at Brayka Bay from Dec17th-Dec 31st 2009.Very concerned about the negative reviews before going, all we can say is there was no need to have worried. This hotel is not perfect, but this was our eighth visit to Egypt and some were rated higher and cost more than Brayka Bay but it was the best we have visited by a mile. The rooms are a little dated but were of a very good size, kept spotlessly clean with a super powerful walk in shower, clean sheets every day.Tv was not so good, only bbc world and one English movie channel,a small annoyance. We e-mailed a request for a room in a two high block,on the top floor, near to pool, restaurant, and beach.we got exactly that in Oasis inn room no 3115 and 3116,(there were three in our party)this room is 20-30 yards from all three. The food was ok,plenty of choice, and always warm rather than hot.If you want a particular meat on any particular day, just ask the restaurant manager or one of the chefs and they will cook it for you,we did this three times,it all gets a bit repetitive after two weeks which you would expect(they all do)The grounds are kept immaculately, and look beautiful. The beach is set in it's own bay so is very calm,no RED flags here,it has a good sandy beach,(bit of a novelty for Egypt)and during our stay virtually no wind(another novelty for Egypt)the house reef is just out of this world, walk in straight off the beach,no jetty here,go 20 yards out, water just up to waist high, and there it is, the most beautiful coral, with a fantastic array of fish, and you can still stand up in the water.Superb!! sitting on the beach you feel that you could be in the caribbean it has the same sort of feel and look.also a lovely shaded beach bar,Ahmed and Ramy will keep you "topped-up"and amused. There is a strong eastern European and Italian contingent at this hotel, but can honestly say that we had no problems at all.Night time entertainment is very low key and most people seemed to go to bed early, and rise early too,(on the beach by 8-00 am)All in all we had a fantastic time, this resort really is a "Hidden Gem" do not be influenced by the poor reviews,We will definitely be returning sometime during 2010.Loved It!!!!!
