We spent two fantastic weeks at this hotel from 17/1 to 31/1. The resort is of a very high standard and is one of the cleanest that we have stayed in anywhere in the world. There is a good variety of food - I mean there was plenty for us to choose from, and we always found something that we liked.. Some people disagreed, but you have to make up your own mind. We ate out a couple of times in the fish restaraunt - the quality, price and choice was excellent. The hotel manager was fantastic, and so was the food and beverages manager, and this friendly, helpful attitude was reflected in the other staff. The entertainments team worked hard to ensure all guests had a good time and felt involved. The beaches were great with plenty of sunbeds. All in all a great place to relax. (We also went quad Biking in the desert twice - great fun and a good way to see the sunset.)

We have just spent a very relaxing week at the calimera,if its peace and tranquility your after than this is the place to go,we havent been anywhere as quiet as this before but with the right people around it was a lot of fun.the hotel staff are the best we have ever come across there was nothing that wouldnt do for you, that was in all cases from barman to chamberperson to reception.the animation team worked very hard and we enjoyed their entertainment.a must is a trip to the local beach so you can enjoy snorkelling carl is 43 and has never enjoyed himself on any holiday as he did on this ,and definately a must ,the kids loved it too.we met great bunch of people and if its your birthday you are in for a treat the waiters put on a fantastic show with drums, dancing they decorate your table it really is a great place.i dont no if we would rush back in the next couple of years maybe in five or so when there is a bit more going on.there wasnt a lot for the kids to do but maybe we went in the quiet season but they still enjoyed a different type of holiday, quality time!the rooms are immaculate, the food is good plenty of selection.local spirts and beer were fine.on the whole youve just gotta go!

This hotel is definately one of the best & cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in!!

Beach great, but if you are going in the sea, coral is quite sharp so you can get some sea shoes from shop, just outside main entrance.

Food/Drink is quite good. Large selection of hot dishes, soups, salads & deserts, and every type of bread you can imagine. Dont expect sausage & bacon for your breakfast - Muslim country.

Alcohol can be quite strong!! If you ask for a small vodka & lemonade, it comes back almost like a treble!! Wine & beer is ok

Staff & Animation team were very friendly and most spoke excellent English & German. Because Calimera is german chain, everything is in German first before English, but this just added to the comedy.

The active pool looks amazing but tends not to be "that active" at this time of the year because its absolutey freezing!!!!
But its the least breezy place to sunbathe.
The relax pool is the heated one, with the best bar staff (Amr - who makes the best cocktails!!!).

Rooms are immaculate!!!

Trips: We did intend to do some sightseeing but journey time to Luxor is 7 hour coach trip each way and journey time to Cairo is 12 hours each way, so instead we went quad biking (Twice!!) in the desert - excellent value for money for 3 hours(£40 for both of us on 1 quad). We also did a beginners 1 day Scuba Dive which was £65 each.

The only complaint that we had was with the massage staff. They were constantly trying to sell you a massage, so if you dont want one, be very blunt with them or they will keep coming back!!!

In a nutshell, we had an absolutely fantastic holiday and would definately go back.

We spent a week at this resort from 24th January. We'd read other reviews before we left so knew what to expect. The weather was great, about 23C throughout although in discussing this with some of the "locals" (animation team/ bar staff) it seems to go in cycles (Wed to Sat excellent with Sun to Tues being slightly cooler or perhaps just feeling it because of the breeze). At night if you are going to the bars for a few drinks I'd recommend a jacket/ jumper as it can get a bit chillier though a damn sight warmer than UK of course.
We hadn't been to Egypt before so you have to get used to not being able to freely travel (e.g. hire car - because there aren't any!!). Egypt is 96% desert (one of the quiz questions) so there are huge gaps of just sand between resorts so quite what you would travel to anyway I'm not too sure. There is plenty to do during the day and night if you are prepared to join in so you won't be bored but if you prefer to wind down and chill as we did then you won't be pestered all day.
Pools good though only 1 heated, sunbeds good, gym & crazy golf good, entertainment team are German but speak perfect English and are very hard working. Didn't do the snorkelling but everyone raved about it. Take water shoes if going in sea as coral can be sharp. It is shallow however for a long way out and hotel have cleared a large area so there is just sand beneath.
Rooms really good and spotlessly maintained (cleaner takes about an hour in the room!)
Though as you can predict one or two complained about the food, I found it to be good 4 star quality, about 12 different hot dishes, 12 salads, all kinds of bread, Danish pastries, 2 soups, 12 desserts and a pasta station where they make up your choice - try the penne pesto - fantastic. Fish also very good. Breakfast good though I would agree hot choice was repetitive, plenty of alternatives though including the great omelette station. Drinks good, red wine and beer especially - rose wasn't brilliant and spirits are a little on strong side though you notice less if they are in the fabulous cocktails!!! I had my birthday on the 2nd day and hotel spotted this from my passport, arranged a cake, special table and the waiters singing happy birthday etc - very embarrasing but hey, on holiday who cares? I would definitely recommend this on the basis of value for money, friendliness of the staff and cleanliness alone. Met some very nice people out there - regards to Dave and Julie from Southport - all in all one of our best holidays
