“2nd visit - not so good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

We stayed at the end of Feb beginning of March 13. This was our second visit (first was Nov 12). Unfortunately we had expected the hotel to be complete, but it looks like they have decided that they are not aiming for a real 5 star rating. They still haven't competed the gym / spa and areas of the site. We had a great laugh watching them spray paint signs outside the kids play area - in the middle of the day.

Having said that, the rooms are very clean, comfortable and the staff can't be faulted. The entertainment is terrible - in Italian and really Butlin's style - so if you are expecting 5 star and like something to do on the evenings - this isn't the place. We stayed for the diving and to be honest I would stay in a tent - with the house reef and the dive team as good as it is.

The food is OK - but don't expect too much variety - some nights we struggled but there was always something. The fruit / salad was great. The queue on the one night they had chips said it all - but we had hoped for more egyptian food.

We heard while we were there that the UK holiday companies weren't taking this hotel up, even though they planned to - which is a shame as it did have potential.

If you are diving - I would still stay here for the house reef - but we might well choose somewhere that is better value for money next time.

Room Tip: block 15 is furthest away from the bad entertainment

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

We went as a group of 7 adults and 7 children to this resort in Jan 2013. We stayed for 3 days. It was really an entertaining and joyful weekend. The hotel is 5 stars on all aspects (cleanliness, hospitality of staff, facilities, food, pool, kids playgrounds, etc.). No obvious flaws to complain about. The landscape, sea view, coral reefs are all great.
Our problem was the Italian orientation of everything in the hotel. The daily shows, the animation team, the theater were all done in Italian, not English. I understand that most of the hotel contracts are with Italian touristic companies. We were minority among Italians in the hotel! But still, doing it with a common language (English) for a shared time would indicate respect for other nationalities, specially Egyptians!
Another minor problem for us was were to go late night after the kids are asleep. The only available place was that Arabian style cafe at a remote place of the hotel, which had a great view. The problem is that all the time it shows belly dance channels on the huge TV screen, which we don't like or watch. I understand that this is also for Italians who love this, but again, have some consideration for other tastes!
All in all, this is a great place for relaxation and for diving and snorkeling lovers, specially if you are Italian :) . If you have the regular Egyptian taste of wanting to do something new everyday, then it is better to stay in this place for maximum 3 days.

3rd Visit in 10 Months
Our 1st visit to this hotel was one week after it opened its doors in May 2012, the 2nd visit was in October 2012 and now our 3rd visit in March/April 2013.

I have been visiting Marsa Alam annualy, once or twice a year since 2004.
I have two previous reviews of this hotel located at the following url’s

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g311425-d3154994-r131294242-Concorde_Moreen_Beach_Resort_Spa_Marsa_Alam-Marsa_Alam_Red_Sea_and_Sinai.html

3rd visit in 10 months and due to return at the end of May 2013.
I have covered most things in my previous reviews.
The hotel gets better after each visit.
Improvements are still being made and it is nice to see the new additions each time we visit.
The Spa, Gym and A la Carte restaurant were nearing completion on our last visit at the end of March/beginning of April and should be complete in May 2013.
More new sunbeds have been purchased and over Easter the hotel was full and there was no problem getting a sunbed.

The staff work extremely hard but always have a smile on their faces, they are polite and attentive and are a credit to the hotel.
Again no problems with upset stomachs etc, the food is of a good quality and plenty of variety.
The hotel is kept clean by the staff, the rooms are cleaned daily and you have the option to have sheets and linen changed daily or to be more eco-friendly and have them changed when you wish.
The gardeners are always working to keep the gardens looking lovely. Whilst we were there they installed numerous new palm trees and two new grass areas, which will take a while to settle in.
It never ceases to amaze me how the gardeners manage to grow such lovely gardens.

The dive centre is run by Emperor divers and is well organised, house reef diving is great. The house reef is very nice and you never know what is lurking, Sharks, Rays, Morays etc.
Snorkelling is also good but please be aware of the flag system, when it is rough there are fast currents that run across the top of the reef.

Thanks to all the staff for looking after us and we will see you all again in 4 weeks and looking forward to it.

Peter & Isobel

The fifth time in Egypt. 54 visited countries behind us.
Concorde Moreen Beach Resort in Marsa Alam. The next, excellent place for relax and quiet. Trip in the beginning of April. Weather : temp. 30* C. Sea temp. 22*C. Windy.
High quality room, great sea view / music of the sea just inside the room!/ , the best garden, luxury small beach, really great meals, and the whole place like a small, shining star.
There is nothing to write about bad sides. Time there was one of the best. We just love Egypt, and we are very thankful for that, what is given to us, being between the seaside and Arabic Desert. We know how much work is necessary to create life there, to erect such excellent Concorde Moreen Beach Resort in the middle of nothing… and thanks all employers who keep that’s all on so high level of quality!
Amazing service, in room and the restaurant, on the beach as well!
Anna and Sophie are specially thankful to Mr. MOHAMED MUSTAFA, young waiter. BIG THANKS for your kindness, professionalism, help, understanding, sensibility. Thank you, that YOU were ALWAYS on the right place! Results of your our hard job stay in our hearts.
Thanks people like Mr. Mohamed Mustafa, the short time in this Resort was worth to us to write a poem! Thank you for your heart!
God bless this place, and people who serve there!

I was in this hotel this February. Personnel all over around was very helpful, every problem
was solved immediatelly ( we had a problem with hot water in bathroom).

Food was ok.

The sea was beautyfull, undersea life amazing, but that time was very windy - red flag was on.
In time of one week stay we could go to sea only 3 days.

Free wifi worked even in our room! Really not bad....

No problem for me to come back again - maybe in summertime the wind is not so strong.

Every once in a while i like taking a time off from my busy career life! Concorde moreen beach is the perfect place to be in! Its a very relaxing hotel with beautiful view and amazing corals for those who dive! The italian animation is making the hotel live! But still there is an only adult beach which is very relaxing, i used to take my book and chill there! The food is very nice, and the seafood restaurant is amazing! I would def go there again!! I would like to thank the staff for their tremendous efforts!

We booked this hotel through Regal diving as Emporer divers are based here. We had a very nice room overlooking the sea so we were very lucky, half of the rooms don't. The check-in was easy and our room was very clean and comfortable although the bed may be a bit hard for some everything else in the room was spot on.

Free coffee making facilities which is topped up daily (powdered milk) and one small bottle of water. Although this can be refilled at the many water stations located throughout the resort. Every room has a balcony and a large walk in Shower, no bath.

You have to stay all inclusive as the hotel is in the middle of no where! There is nothing to walk to but you could get a taxi into Marsa Alam if you wanted.

There are four pools on site, three are heated, there is an Italian animation team on site (90% of the guests are Italian) there is s small childrens park, table tennis, Vollyball, football, Giant Chess, etc, etc.

There is an adult only area on the beach as well.

Diving and snorkelling is fantastic, lovely reefs and easily 40m, 10 mins into the dive for the depth junkies. A lovely cavern entry into the sea from the beach for the divers.

This is a new hotel and the grounds were very well kept and everyone was tripping over themselves to be helpful. There is free WiFi at reception and free use of three Apple Mac PC's in the library as well. There is a roof top bar with a big projection screen TV above the dive centre.

The dive centre is well run with a shop on site and the unlimited, unguided diving is great.

A hotel for families, divers and non-divers alike.

Room Tip: Sea view are the best!
