We have just got back from the adults only Coraya Beach Resort. They have the best registration process, brilliant. It is ideal for a winter break as it is on the north side of a bay facing south so it is protected from the winter wind so you can snorkel every day even when the Red Sea is rough, if you have mobility difficultly you can walk into the sea with out having to go down steps, you do need beach shoes as although the sand around the beds is soft on the edge and in the sea there are some stones and coral. There are lots of fish to see even if you stand in the water some stripey fish swim around you legs. There are lots of beds and umbrella's on the beach. They have a mini bus that takes you to the port in the morning for the dive boats although you can dive in the bay and go by zodiac to the boats as well with the tanks etc.,
The restaurant is lovely, quite big but resigned with arches and pillars so seems smaller, a word of warning, make sure you know where your table is and put something on it so you can recognize it as all the tables look the same, you will see people wandering about looking for where they were sitting. Food was very good, a lot of choice always a BBQ and grill's as well as pasta salads, fish etc.,
Room was very comfortable, you could have a choice of mattress and pillows harder or softer. Our room boy Ghareb kept the place spotless and did some wonderful towel decorations every day. Laundry was free. All the rooms were either around the pool, bay or sea, mostly on two floors with wonderful trees and flowers bougainvillea, all colours and some were 10 meters or 30' high. The hotel is laid out like a village with little pathways going through, very pretty.
The heated pool was a lovely 31* and it was more of a walk up pool bar than a swim up as it was only 3' deep. The others which were not heated were 20* and the sea was 22* and getting warmer.
The animation team were excellent they put on a show most nights, different themes, there is even one couple who are knife throwers. The usual things during the day, volley ball, boules, aqua aerobics, stretching and dancing, no pressure you could just lay there in the sun if you wanted too. The Day and Night bar light a fire at 7pm, whether they will do that when it is hot but it does look nice. The staff are all very good and Amanda (English) who is in charge of guest relations makes sure if you have a problem it gets sorted out. Almost all the people who cam an this trip were returnees and we will definitely be going back next year and I an going to get myself a wetsuit so I can see the fish, they do rent suits, goggles, flippers etc., a suit is 5 Euros to hire and they have a shop which sell snorkeling gear and shoes. There are a lot of different trips to go on, we didn't do any of them but people who did said they were very good.
