“a truly relaxing holiday”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

The Coraya Beach hotel lived up to the excellent reviews it has received on Tripadvisor.
We asked in advance for a ground floor quiet room as I have arthritis in my knees and received prompt communucation from the assistant reservations manager that this would be noted. The room was spacious with very efficient air con and a balcony that had views of the garden and the sea.
The restaurant catered for all tastes for simple dishes such as pizza and home made burgers to more traditional Egyptian fare. The breads and pastries were amazing. Well done to the pastry chef! Remember to book your free visit to the a la carte restaurant Al Fayrouz, the food is delicious.
The entertainment was far above that of other hotels we have stayed in , in Egypt. There were plenty of day time activities from boccia, aqua aerobics to stretching. You can choose what to do or do nothing. The resident singer was excellent as were the animation team who put on a variety of shows during our two week holiday.
All the staff were extremely friendly and would go out of their way to make your holiday relaxing. The beach was fully served by the waiters from the beach bar who come around with trays of ice cold bottles of water first thing in the morning and will bring drinks down to your sunbed. The beach bar also served simple snacks at during the day if you couldn't be bothered to go to the main restaurant.
I you want a relaxing holiday, constant sunshine, with no screaming children this is the hotel for you. We will certainly be going back.

Room Tip: E-mail the hotel in advance if you have a particular preference for a certain room. ie ground floor...

Had a fantastic time at Coraya Beach Hotel, will definitely be going back. The hotel was kept spotless, gardens beautiful, staff polite and friendly. Plenty to eat at breakfast, lunch and dinner, all buffet style, plenty of choices. All inclusive drinks served all day at various bars and waiter service around pools and on the beach. The animation team were all brilliant and worked extremely hard but never pressurised you to take part. Gerry was a scream and always had us in fits. Special mention to Amanda, Helen and Sammi who were all very helpful and friendly. Must also mention the resident musician Khalil who was absolutely brilliant and would sing any request thrown at him. He is as good as anyone that's been on xfactor and he helped make our holiday special. ( Thanks Khalil from Wayne and Sandy, but still waiting for 'you've got a friend' . YouTube please)
Was quite concerned before we went about the problems in Cairo but no need worry as there is no signs of trouble, all very peaceful and tranquil.
Please add to this review all good comments from previous reviews to save me repeating them.
Look forward to returning soon
Thanks, Wayne and Sandy

Obviously a lot of things have been covered in reviews so many times that they do not really need mentioning, such as the cramped plane conditions or that the hotel restaurant remains open late on your first evening. I'll try and cover some less discussed areas.

The hotel itself is a beautiful and authentic Egyptian design, beautifully set out over a fairly large space that means you never feel cramped. This carries through to the room layouts, with small buildings of 6 or so rooms over 3 floors. It's worth mentioning that all AI guests stay in 'superior rooms', so they actually are really standard rooms by default.

The hotel is located near a number of Iberotel sister hotels, but they are all on the other side of the bay and are bunched together, whereas the Coraya is set apart with more space at the hotel and at the beach.

I'd personally recommend skipping the morning Thomson meeting, unless you are certain you want to do a lot of their activities. Despite the local rep Sami saying he wasn't interested in selling and instead focused on helping you have a great stay, the entirety of the meeting was really focused around excursions. Those elements that weren't were actually not to do with Sami, such as Helen who leads the animation team. She comes round every day though to provide details of activities, this negating the need to be in the first meeting. I actually found Sami to be rather disingenuous. I decided to book excursions separately of Thomson as the hotel offered there own diving etc, but every time I went to reception to speak to staff Sami would interrupt and try and bring it back to making a sale, discouraging me from booking Quad biking or diving through the hotel. Equally, due to the hotel being half full, the reception stuff were seemingly willing to give a free late check out, but Sami overhead and forced his way in to the conversation to try and sell it through Thomson as a £40 charge.

Aside from him though, I thought the actual hotel staff were all unbelievable. Almost all of the restaurant and bar staff are exceptionally friendly, teaching me and my girlfriend Arabic phrases and also providing recommendations for snorkelling (getting up at 6am, which actually was completely worth it). The staff would joke with you, and would go out of their to help you, constantly replacing drinks before you had even realised. Equally, they did all of this with a genuine smile and affection.

Helen and her animation were also great, seemingly working a never ending today, always with great enthusiasm. At times the entertainment can be a little corny, but then at 25 I am not necessarily the mean age for guests.

The food was surprisingly very good. In addition to the buffet, there are always 4 or 5 live cooking stations at each meal. These are things like pasta, kebabs, fresh fish, roast beef, smoked chicken, Lobster and various others. Equally we found a constant rotation over the 7 day stay, with some great dishes. Equally, we didn't once suffer from illness.

The A La Carte options are also very good, we visited the Oriental Egyptian restaurant located at the Lamaya, and the Mediterranean located at the Coraya. The Oriental was a very nice 3 course meal of something like a shared meze platter, oriental soup and then a selection of kebabs with rice, potatoes and barbecued vegetables.

The Coraya restaurant was even better though. Like most people we went for the steak, and shockingly it actually was a huge piece of fillet steak. This was amazingly cooked and served in a black peppercorn sauce. Genuinely a meal you would happily have paid for back home.

The booze was of a good standard too, with everything branded and coming out of bottles rather than non descript vats. As people have mentioned, the beer wasn't particularly cold. A tip would be to go to the Shisha bar or Night & Day bar around the time that they open (7pm and 2pm respectively). The beers here have been chilling since the night before and as such are much colder.

All in all a fantastic holiday, a lovely and relaxed place where time just disappears in a blink of an eye.

The last time we visited this hotel was November 2012 so I thought it was about time I put my weight behind this fabulous hotel.
My wife and I have stayed at this hotel on 6 occasions and every time it just gets better. WHY ?1. Something has always improved or added. 2 All the staff immediately recognize you and treat you like royalty. From Mr Hossam Saber, the General Manager; Mr Amr Mohammed, the Divisional Rooms Manager; and Hady on reception. All three very fantastic people.
From the moment you get off the coach, some ten minutes from the airport, hold on tight, because you are going to get the best holiday you've ever had.
We've stayed in Makadi Bay, Taba Heights and Sharm and this hotel beats them all hands down.
Let's just go through the best bits, having said that, there are no worse bits.
Pool bar - run by Masoup and his manager, what a fantastic service. Order a drink and you'll get it the same time every day without asking.
Restaurant - the food is excellent and varied with more than enough choice for anyone. The head chef is always on hand to offer his services and give advice. Look out for Osama and Ahmed, these two are fantastic characters who will serve you all night long.
Beach bar - have visited this on every occasion and is an excellent choice when you don't want to go in the buffet or want a change. Excellent soups, sandwiches and deserts.
Al Acarte - just brilliant food in nice quite surroundings.
Pool area - we normally don't bother with the beach as beautiful as it is. The pool areas are spotlessly clean and well equiped and there's no fighting for a sunbed.
I could go on and on.
Everything about this hotel is so relaxed and everybody goes out their way to make sure you have the best holiday possible.
If you want to be spoilt then this is the place for you. Enjoy.

Room Tip: Block 21 top floor gives the best view possible

My wife and I travelled to Marsa Alam on 31st July and finished our holiday on 14th August 2013. Many other reviewers have pointed out the excellent service received from all staff and I can only repeat the same. I'd like to add a few other comments and hints that may assist others when preparing for the trip. Overall the holiday experience was very good indeed hence the rating of excellent. Anyway, back to the comments. We have been to Egypt during Ramadan before and realise the hard work that the waiters have to do during the fasting period, especially delivering drinks during the heat of the day so please be patient especially during the late afternoon when the guys are breaking the fast. The food choice is limited however everything we ate was cooked perfectly. We took the opportunity to "tour the house" and got to see how the hotel kitchens are run. They have daily deliveries of supplies from Cairo (by road). Seeing how the salads are prepared only two hours before service is particularly interesting. During our stay, the hotel was less than half full and so we didn't have any issues getting sunbeds around the pool or on the beach. There are so many places to lounge or sit, I would expect no issues with a full hotel but can't confirm this. Take your own snorkels and fins for the house reef. We saw many different species of fish within a short distance from the beach and in shallow water. At times it is like standing inside your own aquarium. There is a nice walk around the bay on a concrete path (1.6km from beginning to end). At the opposite part of the bay from our hotel there is a pier going out to sea. If you don't like going in the sea you will see many fish from the pier and if you are lucky turtles and on rare occasions dolphins. The shops on this side of the bay are much cheaper than those available at the hotel itself. One hint, the ATM machine was not very reliable during our stay and there seems to be no option to exchange currencies at reception. Last hint is regarding tips. It is nice to reward the waiting staff for the excellent service that they provide and if you want to do so, please use the tip boxes provided, that way the tip is shared amongst the whole team. So, in summary a very nice hotel set in a small bay with easy access to a reef for snorkeling. We are actively planning a return visit.

Room Tip: Block 11 is close to the point. Room 1118 overlooks the sea (photo included)

We spent a beautiful week at the Iberotel Coraya Beach Resort returning 7th August 2013.
I can only confirm what others have written for Trip Advisor - Superb.
Nothing was too much trouble for anyone.
The things that impressed us most:-
The manager and all the staff were present upon our arrival, also at the Thomson meeting which was further enhanced by an invitation to the managers cocktail party - outstanding leadership which was reflected in all practice.
All laundry was included in our All Inclusive package, on a daily basis - marvellous!
I could go on about the cleanliness, food and drink, spa treatments, entertainment, room attendant, location, peacefulness, gardens, beach swimming and fish which were all above and beyond expectations - so won't bore you with that.
I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and wanted to rebook it for Christmas, but its already booked up! Not at all surprised.
Thank you so much to the manager, Sammy & Helen(Thomson) and Mohammed who maintained our room beautifully who we count as our friends. Thank you so much for a really beautiful and memorable holiday which exceeded 5*.

Room Tip: There are all good.
