Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort
Ranked #8 of 68 Hotels in Marsa Alam
Reviewed October 12, 2011

We stayed at Marsa Alam at the begining of September 2011. This was our first time at this hotel and definatley wont be our last. First impressions of the hotel was good and we were not disapointed. Check in was quick and easy, and check in staff very helpful. Mustafa Khalaf on the front desk was helpful throughout our stay.
Our room (#1402) was well appointed, with tea making facilities, iron & board, comfortable bed and a nice view of the main pool. Every day we had fresh towels and the room was cleaned to a high standard every day. On a down note, the bathroom flooded due to the bad design around the side of the bath, but I believe this is being addressed by the hotel and so should not be an issue for future guests.
The food was good, plenty of choice, and the restaurant staff were excellent and very attentive. Thank you to Ibrahim (Russian) for his great customer service. As the hotel is very new the grounds are not established but this of course will change in time.
The pools were clean, and well maintained. The pool bar is a great meeting place and Mero, Nour, little Mizo and Taher done a great job. There is a definate lack of toilet facilities around the resort.
The beach was a few minutes ride away from the main pools on the hotel buggys. The beach was clean, there is a bar, which served meals and snacks. Plenty of sunbeds and shade. Snorkling was excellent with lots to see. We were told that there was turtles and sea cows, but we never see these.
The hotel animation team done a good job with activities through out the day. The night time entertainment was good.
We spent our evenings in the Axis bar, met some lovely people and cheers to Tarek who served a good drink and always smiling. The only thing was the music could be a bit loud, and I think the atmosphere would have been much better with less volume, as it was a good place for relaxing and chatting with new friends.
The staff at this hotel are excellent, really helpful, friendly and cant do enough for you. They are a credit to Martin (the hotel manager) who is a great guy, very approachable and will do all he can to make your stay a good one.
We are looking to go back to this hotel early next year, and really looking forward to it.
We would like to thank all the hotel staff, both front of house and those behind the scenes who made our stay great. In particular Martin, Ehab (food and bev manager) Tamer (director Ops) and all the lads.
We would recommend this hotel 100% and cannot speak highly enough of it.
If anybody wants to know any other information please e mail us and we would be happy to answer.

Room Tip: Rooms are good around the pool.

Many thanks for your Trip Advisor Report and for visiting our hotel

We really appreciate your comments and I will ensure they are passed on to all the team members.

You will see on our other social network page that many more additional items have been added to the landscaping since your visit and I am sure much more will be happening over the next few weeks.

I am glad to say that we have changed the music outside and it is only played during animation/entertainment activities.

We hope to welcome you back soon

regards

My daughter and I had a 2 week holiday. From start to finish it was wonderful. Upon arrival we were met my Mostafa who escorted us to our incredible room. Mostafa remained a support to us throughout the entire holiday, which was really appreciated. The hotel itself is fab and met all our hopes. The bar staff are wonderful, special mentions to Tarek and Ali, Hani and Ahmed who leads the team well The pools are amazing and complimented by the incredible animation team (mando, Daria and Mojo ( thank you for making our holiday memorable). The hotel has an amazing bay, with wonderful fish and gorgeous turtles! The holiday was all in all fantastic We met some truly amazing people there! Thanks also to Chris at Kwik travel, Tamer (White rum) and Martin Rogers.
We definitely hope to return soon. Gaynor and Yassmin.

As it says in the title and to sum up our 7 days at the Hilton Marsa Alam – We have never been away and come home so relaxed.

As seems to be the format of these reviews I will try and sum up the very few negatives/issues in a constructive manner and then I can use up the rest of the space to tell you how good it is.

Negatives
I don’t think negatives are the right term to use but more things that bugged us. Firstly we had booked a King Room but upon arriving in the room it was in fact a twin room with the beds apart. We explained this to the individual who had helped us with our cases. He simply entered the room, pushed the beds together and said “now it’s a King!". Well it’s not but we were so tired and that bed…….sorry 2 beds……….. looked so comfy (and they were). Late night and 6 hours flight so all we just wanted to sleep. We decided we would bring this up with reception the following day but after a morning visit to the pool we came back to find that housekeeping had put a king mattress spread on which did solve the issue. Unfortunately we must of upset housekeeping as though we had this “king bed” format for most of our stay on the final 2 nights we had it back to twin??? We checked and it was the same guy who had been doing it all week. We only had the towel art on 1 day, speaking to others they had it 3-4 times which added to our thinking that we had upset him.

Bathroom was 99% perfect except for one small thing. The bathroom floor flooded every time we had a shower, not just a bit but so much we used 3 of our 5 towels each day to soak it up after several near slips. One time it was so bad it ran outside the bathroom. The reason for this was obvious. The bath is set in a surround with a 5 inch surface running around the bath (lower than edge of the bath). So when using the shower any water not landing directly in the bath would gather along the wall side, run along the side edge of the bath, round the back and over the edge. We even tried putting bottles, towels and anything else we could find to try and create a dam to stop the water running around. We had maintenance in twice but each occasion they said this was a design issue and it was the same in each room. If that is true then I think we should rename the bathrooms as wet rooms and install non slip floors.

Wrist Bands. Now we had yellow wrist bands and that was not a problem for us as we seemed to get the same, if not a little better service (E.g. drinks bought to us at pool, table decorated with flowers on 2 nights etc.) than the majority of guests (95% seem to have blue bands). What we didn’t like was that no one would tell us what the difference was and the fact we had questions every 5 minutes from other guests and we were unable to tell them why we had yellow bands. Now as we were told and I am sure they are right………..it means nothing different. Well if that is the case then please let everyone have the same bands and let everyone just get on with enjoying their holiday.

Final issue- some of the music they play round the pool needs to be checked for suitability. A few tracks they played every day had some very offensive language in which if we had children with us then I think I would be covering their ears a lot. Mr Eminem needs some mouth wash and another was about a gentleman who enjoyed the company of some models (as the lyrics went).

Positives
Well everything else. From the moment one of the hotel staff picked us up by car from the airport we were treated like VIPs. We never went wanting. The food was varied and excellent. So much so we never ate outside of the main Marsa restaurant. We wanted to try one of the set menus at the Souk cafe but feared missing the next variant on that day in the main restaurant. There was plenty of it too so there was a selection for everyone. From being shown to your table, to the waiters remembering your favourite drink, to the chefs saying hello and encouraging you to try something new, to the dining room staff checking you are OK………..everything was top notch. The rooms were large, clean, modern, well equipped and tastefully decorated. The biggest compliments to the bed (or beds) was that we slept better than we sleep at home. The pool(s) were fantastic and the pool bars were always an enjoyable experience with some great characters serving you your drinks.

The animation team were friendly but not pushy. We chatted with them for ages and they made you feel like you were talking to friends you had known for some time. The bars were great and we would say the Axis bar especially made our holiday. Tarek in the Axis bar has made our visit to the Hilton fantastic. If the hotel ever needs someone to point out to new staff and say “that’s how you need to be with guests” then Tarek is the man. If you have not had a tequila boom from Tarek then you are still to experience everything the Hilton has to offer…………and it’s not the drink but the experience that comes with it. He made us feel at home with the first drink and we laughed long into the nights with him on every night we were there.

Overall we would love to come back but this time we will have a few friends there waiting for us when we arrive…….see you next year the Hilton Marsa Alam team!

Room Tip: Room 1404 was the room we had so watch the bath, but as above if the maintenance man is correct all...

Thank you for completing a Trip Advisor Review and your kind comments.

I am sorry I do not know why your bed was changed during your holiday and we are now investigating this issue to ensure that this does not happen again in the future. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this mistake

We have raised the issue of the bath design with our owners and they now have completed a 'revised' version of this bath design and it is under trail at the moment. Hopefully they will then change the design in all the other rooms.

The Yellow bands are used to identify a number of different things like: Hilton Honors Guest, Return Guest, Honeymoon, Major celebration ie Anniversary, 30/40/50 birthday etc.

I have immediately addressed the music issue with Mojo our Entertainment Manager and this will be stopped immediately.

I am glad that you enjoyed your vacation and we would love to see you back. I am sure that staff will be able to spot you immediately when you return.

kind regards

Fair unbiased observations please read right to the end.

First the BAD: NOISE! In every public place except the smaller pools, which as yet have no bar, so will probably be as bad when they do, loud music assaults your senses. Several people have commented that this is not Sharm and that at least one bar should be quiet. All of them should turn down the volume as it is difficult to hear the staff when they talk or ask for your order. It is so loud by the pool I can't hear my iPod! People who want this sort of noise go to Sharm, we chose this area because we understood it to be a quiet place. We have asked several times for the sound to be reduced with limited effect by the pool. We'll keep trying.

INTERNET: When we booked the website said that free wifi was available but it is not and is no longer on the website, although it is in the room information but has been covered by a sticker. Again, many of us think we should not have to queue to use the Internet in what is after all an American hotel. Last year we were a little further up the coast and had free Internet in another international chain. It is 500LE for a week or 40LE for 1/2 an hour.

Now the merely irritating: At arrival one is issued with a wrist band but we decided not to wear ours as they remind us of being in hospital and perhaps some others of being tagged! Ours are yellow which means we have Hilton Honors, the others are blue which means they have not. It makes no difference to the way we are treated and as the hotel is so remote, what are they for? It is not as if anyone is going to walk in off the street and use the facilites. Towel cards: why? Again, no one is going to walk in from the street and take them.

Animation: Various pool activities which seem to require a lot of loud music but in themselves are good. We saw an excellent dance show. It is however very difficult to find out what is happening in the evening and even just one hour after we asked one of them what was on that evening his response was wrong. Sometimes they put up a notice but then it still doesn't happen! More info please.

Now the GOOD: The staff could not be more helpful and seem very happy with their work and with each other. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them and they are always friendly and smiling. Just one example: I asked for more coat hangers and they arrived and were fitted, with a smile, a couple of minutes later. We really can't rate them too highly.

The food is excellent and fresh, good vegetables which are cooked to perfection, good salads and fresh fruit too. The waiters remember where we like to sit and what we like to drink. I cannot understand why they keep the evening pool restaurant such a secret, we only found out about it by accident and it was superb but only 4 tables were taken the night we ate there. It should be promoted as it was a great meal, eaten outside in the dusk. We are half way through our holiday and the food has not become boring, we think there is enough selection so that it won't.

Everything is very clean and being cleaned all the time. There are hand sanitisers at the entrances to the main restaurant and you are encouraged to use them. If anyone gets 'gippy tummy' in this hotel it will not be down to lack of staff hygiene.

When we chose this hotel some of the reasons were that there was a safe in the room and, as we were coming for 4 weeks, the iron and ironing board were essential. For some reason they have taken this information off the website but I can assure you they are there.

This is not a 'one nation' hotel, there is a mixture of German, Italian, Polish, Russian and British as far as we can tell.

Would we come back? If we can persuade them to lower the volume, probably yes. If anyone from the Hilton is reading this, please come and discuss with us.

Many thanks for your review and your time to discuss them with me - this was really appreciated.

I hope we were able to cover the items you mentioned:

There are 2 free internet computers in the Souk Shopping Mall for guests to use 24 hours a day and as from1st January 2012 the wifi system will be free to all guests in the reception/lobby areas.

I was very happy to hear that you noticed that we had changed the music being played at the main pool over the last week and hope this enables you to relax, but at the same time the guests that want music can enjoy this during the animation/entertainment times.

At the same time when you were on the beach you encountered a quick security check as they did not see you with a wrist band. This enable us to identify who is a Hilton guest and who is not. As we discussed there are over 15 other hotels that access the Abu Dabab Bay and some of these people do like to sneak into the Hotel and try to use all our All Inclusive Food and Beverage for free. Also our other local hotel guests are trying to use our sun beds and watch our entertainment (but all of this is private to Hilton guests only).

The Yellow bands identify a number of things: Hilton Honors, Return Guest, Major anniversary ie 25th, 50th Wedding, Honeymoon etc

I would like to thank you again for your time yesterday and hope you enjoy the remainder of you holiday.

regards

It was a 10 days vacation for me and my sister. When we were choosing a hotel the main criterion for us was the opening date of the hotel. We wanted the hotel to be new and "fresh." So we chose Hilton and we wre right!
The hotel is just gorgeous!
When you come into the main building you`re affected by the beauty and size. There are a lot of air and space inside and the atmosphere is very cozy and friendly.
Generally, hotel impresses with its scale - huge territory, 3 swimmingpools, a lot of bars and of course really big rooms!
By the way rooms are about 35 sq m with large soft beds, a spacious bathroom and a wonderful balcony.
About the service and staff of the hotel. It is perfect.Everybody is polite and well-mannered. My sister and I have been in Egypt for several times, so I want to note that people who are working there differ from those are working in shops, taxi and etc. They do not stick, do not interfere with rest, behave politely and really care about the rest of guests.
Animation team is also unobtrusive, but excellent . While we were there, there were only two people in a team, but they did their work great. There were enough entertainment options to feel yourself ok: stretching, aqua gum, water polo, beach volleyball and disco. Animators were really friendly and cheerful.
Finally about food. The menu was not super-mega-huge, but quite varied. All meals were always fresh, well cooked and tasty.
So, Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort is a great hotel.
I advise it everyone))))

The Hotel is very beautiful, the people who work there are always smiling and very very helpful. They always inquire about the guests wellness. The hotel deserves the 5 stars totally. The hotel was decorated in a very nice way, in arabic style what makes you really feel where you are. The food was very tasty and everyday there was something else to eat - a lot of thing to choose.

Very nice animation stuff. They are always happy and smiling and will do everything to entertain the guests. Mojo, Daria, Momo and Daniel like asking guests if they are doing ok and they invite people to join them in aquagym or water volleyball or beach volleyball. If ladies will like Daria will teach them belly dance or do some step exercises with them :) The animation group was very open to any propositions from guests.

The room are nice and neat. Have all necessary stuff. Air conditioning Tea, coffe, water everyday, fridge, safe...

There is a beautiful coral reef and a great opportunity to snorkle and watch the funny little fish :)
I really recomend this hotel!
