“Good service and food”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Had an early lunch here, we only had a butternut soup an a ham salad baguette (it had a more flamboyant name). Food was good and accompanied by a large pot of tea. The menu looked good, which was in Welsh and English, the home made bread baked on the premises looked really good and so too did the cakes. There is a small delicatessen to buy bread, cheese, cakes etc.

“Brilliant cakes and Take out Bread”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Little oasis - really friendly service and excellent coffee and home baked cake. Loved the touch of providing blankets on chairs outside on a less than warm day - made the whole place so inviting. Bout sourdough bread - wonderful warm loaf which was first class.

“Early light lunch”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

We were pleased to see that the restaurant had was open as we'd heard it had closed. Refurbished and a totals different look. Lovely inside and out. Wow even had blankets outside for customers to use over their knees on cooler days. Their light lunches were more than adequate, in fact nothing small about them! Had beautiful home made butter nut squash soup with mouth watering seeded bread and salted welsh butter. Husband had cheer on toast with home made marrow and apple chutney. Well worth visiting if in Newport, think it'll be one of our firm favourites. Highly recommend it

“Great Bread & Cheese”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

Had lovely early lunch on busy Easter Sunday, their crispy and chewy rolls with choice of wonderful cheeses really impressed...the blue vein was one of the best we've ever had! While we were there a man came in and ordered half of the lemon cheesecake to take away, which prompted us trying a wonderful example of a lemon cheese cake...Will be back for more food and a supply of takeaway bread

“Now called Blas at Fonlas”
Reviewed April 11, 2014 via mobile

Ate here afternoon tea, lunch and breakfast. Only been open a few days and was great.... Family run, really, really friendly front of house staff. Lovely local simple food menu. Wish this was my local coffee/casual eatery. Well done.
