“Huge choice!”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

Very good food with generous portions and a huge menu. Very pleasant staff - only slight criticism was that the upstairs restaurant lacked a bit of atmosphere when we were there, but generally would definitely recommend

“Lovely food every time”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

Have eaten here a few times and never been disappointed. Love the curries. Had the green thai last time and it was so tasty. Huge portions. Held my friends birthday Meal here upstairs and it was fab. 21 of us all ate at same time and everyone enjoyed their food. Very welcoming to us all, staff friendly. Would recommend.

“One of the best in Pembrokeshire”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

This time we went to celebrate my mothers birthday, the biggeest problem is chosing what you want to eat , i chose beef stronganoff , all i can say is it melted in your mouth , i am getting hungry writing this thinking about , 9 of us went , 9 meals 6 puds , a few round of drinks all for £165.00 , and we all had a superb meal.
always a few good guest beers to chose from and nice busy friendly local pub , but the food is resturant quality.

“Lunch at the royal oak at new port”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

We had a very special lunch at this pub. We were warmly greeted and nothing was too much trouble . We were a party of 9 adults. We had gone to the Trewern Arms but had a dismissive greeting in a very rude manner by a staff member there who told us to come to the Royal Oak if we wanted food as they weren't serving after 2pm. She did us a favour as we were more than satisfied by greeting, menu ,cost, presentation, and an additional extra of bowls of chips Gratis. Well worth a visit

“Excellent Curries”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

When in Newport, we always visit this pub a couple of times, to sample their curries, they do quite a large range and the pub has been nicknamed " The curry centre of Newport " which is very true. The pub is popular for take away sales as well.

The Green Thai Chicken curry is my favourite and I always order it with half chips and half rice, you also get a poppudum and chutney included in the price, which is served as a starter.

The pub has a restaurant upstairs, but we have always choose to eat in the bar. There is a good selection of other home-made dishes as well on the menu, including fresh fish.

Our only concern, on the last two occasions that we have visited, the two lamb madras curries tasted very much like beef and when we spoke to the barmaid ,she said someone esle had complained about that as well.

However, this will not deter us from returning to the Royal Oak in the near future.
