“The perfect setting for a magical holiday”
Reviewed September 19, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We were looking for a place that would accommodate our extended family – four cousins with partners and offspring (17 of us in all, ranging in age from 10 – 50+), the Old Rectory and the Retreat hosted this gathering comfortably and with charm.
The Old Rectory is a beautiful, old Welsh house which is well equipped and had a large enough dining room to fit everyone together for dinner. The garden is large and was perfect for the youngest members of the group to run around and explore and the older members to sit out and enjoy the wonderful views. The Aga in the utility room was very welcome on the day that the heavens opened and we all got drenched.
The Retreat is a lovely barn conversion and has a marvellous living area – great space to gather, after dinner.
Newport and the surrounding area is wonderful, packed with stunning landscapes, wildlife and history.
All in all the perfect setting for a magical holiday- Thanks

“We loved this place.”
Reviewed August 24, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

I hired the Old Rectory and the Sunny Retreat for my wife’s 40th and it was perfect.

We comfortably slept 18 and three dogs across the two adjoining buildings. The gardens are beautiful and the views are spectacular. We had a barbeque on the grounds (the local butcher T G Davies is well worth a visit if you’re thinking of doing the same) then sat around a camp fire and finished the evening with fireworks.

The local beaches are perfect for a bit of kayaking and coasteering, and the walks around the area are beautiful.

We had a lovely week. The owners were extremely accommodating, the properties are welcoming, comfortable and well equipped, and the Pembrokeshire is genuinely beautiful.

I can not recommend this place enough.

We loved it.

Thank you for choosing the Old Rectory to mark your special occasion of your 50th birthday.
It is good to get such enthusiastic feedback on the facilities and character of the house. You can appreciate that it has taken many years of love, joy and work to get the property to this stage of being a great venue for celebrations such as yours. It's purpose is being fulfilled. The stunning view will never change. It is all waiting for you and your friends and family to return for more fun. Welcome back!

We are so glad you enjoyed the house and views. It is good that you had no queues for the loos and bathrooms. We try to improve the plumbing each year to ensure plenty of hot water for large groups. Also there is a plan to add 2 more bathrooms as well. Thanks for mentioning the bedrooms being pretty and comfortable. Each year we add another antique or painting of a local artist. Yes that AGA cooker will go on forever as a useful extra heat source. We very much look forward to you and your group coming back sometime.

“Gelli Olau - as welcoming and charming as ever.”
Reviewed April 19, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

My parents, sisters and children have stayed in this house many times. We love the fact that a large group of people of different ages can happily fit in. The accommodation in all areas - bedrooms, bathrooms, dining and kitchen facilities - is well-designed for the comfort of all. The location is great for walking and exploring all that this beautiful area of Pembrokeshire has to offer, we particularly like the fact that, once you have arrived you don't need to use the car at all. This time some of our group arrived from London by train and bus, so you can even get there without a car! The garden has a special calm peacefulness about it, as well as amazing views and the terrace makes the most of this. Changes this year to the kitchen are definitely an improvement, and having the old Aga working again after a gap of several years was fantastic! The house is perfect for a gathering of family and friends.

Thank you for your review and coming back each year. It is good to have you in the calendar for next year as well already.
I am glad that you like the new kitchen arrangement and the new granite countertop. Also it makes me happy that as well as the cooking range you can enjoy the Aga cooker again as an extra place to cook .
It is lovely spring weather just now with so many flowers bursting out in the garden and the pink thrift on the coast walks. It is good that you have found the tranquility and a way to not use the car when there. Certainly more people come by bus and get dropped at the driveway, and with trains coming to Fishguard now it helps. The local footpaths from the house to the coast and mountain continue to be source of pleasure. The local wholefood shop makes house deliveries as well as Tesco's. Another great caterer is setting up locally too. Welcome back next year to enjoy it all. There will be ongoing improvements that I hope that your family will appreciate as well.

“The Perfect Stay”
Reviewed September 22, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

I probably won't be able to say enough about this holiday rental but here we go... It's in the perfect location for walking/hiking/sight-seeing with access to several miles of walking paths, one of which is accessed via the back garden. The entire area is picturesque. The house itself is so charming and very roomy, with lots of bedrooms and plenty of comfy beds. With views of the beach from just about every window, you never forget your on holiday. As dog owners we were especially appreciative that this accommodation is per-friendly. The Sunny Retreat is another smaller holiday rental attached to the back of The Old Rectory, while small it is certainly equally as charming. I would be happy to go back to this place again and again.

Thank you for coming and sending a review. Some people are wary of stag parties but you were very respectful and the house was left just fine. You are so welcome to come back. As our only neighbours are cows, those that rent both the Rectory and Cottage can make as much noise as they like at any time, or have silence on a retreat.
