We booked out the whole of the Old Rectory and Cottage for a joint birthday celebration in February. The property was fantastic. The photos do not do it justice. Beautiful location and we had a lot of fun. Thanks for having us! Would highly recommend, perfect for large groups. :)
Our stay at the old rectory was absolutely dreamy. At our arrival, the house and the hot tub were warm, perfect after a long travelling from London. The house itself is just a dream, we were a group of 15, so many rooms and bathroom, never thought we were taking each others space. The view on the sea when you wake up in the morning is unratable. Special mention for the big bathroom which was the perfect place to relax after a day of walking around. The second house was really a big plus, such a lovely place with so much charm. The garden is magic, huge and beautiful.
The house is located near by the sea and the forest, perfect if you want to walk around and discover the area. I literally have nothing bad to say about our stay, it was just perfect and i am looking forward returning to the old rectory.
Excellent stay in this wonderful accommodation which provided good space and value for 7 families (14 adults and 11 children) !
Communication was excellent before and during our stay with really prompt action from Poppy and Dan when we needed help with the hot tub over the bank holiday weekend.
The new games room and hot tub really made the stay as a great social area for those of us who were more active in the evening, whilst others could relax in front of the fire. The gardens looked beautiful but we didn't use enough as we had so much else to do!
Spent some time working out sleeping plans as there are a number of single rooms, but by using the extra lounge areas we were able to ensure that everyone had a comfortable bed for the night. Plenty of toilets and showers in the main house - the only perfect addition would be for another toilet in the cottage - only because we were at full capacity!
Kitchen is compact and well equipped with lots of extra fridge / freezer space in the utility room. We split meal times with grown ups / children so 14 adults could sit comfortably around the dining table in the evenings.
Great to be able to use the washing machine and drying space for all the wet gear after a unseasonably cold coasteering session, down the coast.
Had a lovely lunch in nearby Newport which is just a short walk down the road and enjoyed some excellent coastal walks.
We all really enjoyed our stay - so much that we've booked to come back next year. Thank you for having us!
I rented the property to celebrate my 50th birthday with a large group of friends. The owner was really helpful and friendly and essentially then left us to get on with it which I really appreciated. The house and gardens have lots of character and the children had loads of fun exploring the place. The outside games room was particularly good with lots of games of table tennis. Everything worked, great location, Highly recommended.
Very impressive building with lots of original features and character and amazing views of the coast. Well away from the main road up a private track, so lovely and peaceful.
Many extras inc hot tub, table tennis, etc. The big house is ideal for larger groups and families but we stayed in the smaller (but no less impressive) Sunny Retreat. Manager was available to ensure we had everything we needed. Could not fault it.
Visited with 20 or so friends for a weekend to mark a significant birthday. I stayed in the Cottage with my family while others inhabited the Rectory. The latter is a large, comfortable house, while the Cottage is more modern property with amazing views. Location is fabulous and the views are sublime. The coast path is just a short stroll away. Nearby Newport / Trefdraeth has a fabulous butcher and lovely cafes (we liked Blas especially).
This is a warm, lovely and generous place - lots of space for everyone, whether you want to spend time together or hide away with a book. The generous spirit is felt at every level, from the host's welcome to the ample facilities. I've stayed in rental properties in West Wales that are nicely decorated but can feel mean (one diswasher tablet in the cupboard, no bin bags, poor quality or insufficient crockery) but this house is just the opposite. Lots of little things show evidence of the host's thoughtfulness: the basics are all there (bin bags, ziplock bags, tupperware, dishwasher stuff, washing up liquid, salt, pepper etc); along with ample crockery, cutlery, glassware etc. There's also an excellent wifi connection which functions well throughout the property.
We rented the cottage and main house to celebrate a milestone birthday with friends and family. Blessed by wonderful weather we had the perfect time enjoying amazing views from the beautiful gardens. Tree lovers will not be disappointed by the number of mature specimens nestled in this beautiful setting with long reaching views of Newport beach and estuary. The little village of Newport has more than enough high quality cafes and pubs within a 15 minute walk of the house. Don't miss the excellent butcher (there's only one). But there's really no need to leave the house as everything you need for a large group is there. Even the knives in the kitchen were sharp (very rare for self-catering in our experience). We happily catered for 25 people. The dogs loved the beach which is stunning and offers endless walking. Could have stayed for months. Highly recommended.
