Imagine your picture-perfect desert island hideaway ... and then add some outstanding amenities and excellent accommodation. The over-water bungalows were very discrete and very well appointed with instant access to the sea from a personal dive platform.

My husband and I had been looking forward to this trip to Bora Bora and a stay at the Four Seasons all year. Plenty of time to memorize the photos on the website and wonder how the reality could possibly match the incredible beauty of Bora Bora and the resort. Imagine our delight and amazement at the luxury of our over the water bungalow--superb accommodations only surpassed by the exceptional service of the staff. The staff are always two steps ahead in thinking of what you may need--some water and a cool cloth on the boat from the airport to the resort, a golf cart ride from our bungalow to dinner while serenaded by guitar...wonderful.

For those who tire easily walking, picking a bungalow closer to the shore might be a better idea, as it can be a hike to the dining areas. We had a slight view of the mountain--otherwise, we could see other bungalows in the distance. It felt very private and quiet--we felt no guilt in hanging out in our room one day, just swimming off the deck and lazing around the incredibly spacious bungalow.

Do be prepared for an abundance of fish on the menu, with much fewer red meat options. The buffet breakfast was an excuse to overeat every morning, with delicious crepes, local fruits, and juices.

We were sad to leave, but hope we will have an opportunity to return some day. Maruru!

Room Tip: Be aware that some of the rooms over the water can be quite a distance from the pool and dining area...

Let me start off by saying that I have never taken the time to write a review on a hotel - until now!!

My family (wife and 2 kids ages 11 and 13) stayed at the Four Seasons at the end of February.

From the moment we arrived we knew this place was different. We were greeted at the airport and seamlessly ushered to the waiting boat after our bags were picked up by Four Seasons staff. On arrival we were personally greeted by Sonia and taken directly to our room. We spent the first part of our stay in an Overwater Bungalow with plunge pool and the last part in one of the 2-Bedroom Villas. Both accommodations were amazing - if you're planning an overwater bungalow get the plunge pool!! The Villas are beyond compare - it was so nice to have our own private beach and pool.

As for the service, it was incredible. It somehow seemed that within 24 hours of us being there that all the staff members knew our names. All the little touches were great with the breakfast staff knowing that we liked lattes after the first day to the pool staff always greeting us by name when we arrived. My daughter was using an old popsicle stick as a book mark and on return one night she found the popsicle stick on the end table with a new Four Seasons bookmark in its place!

The food was very good - probably the best sushi we've ever had - and one night we ordered room service and they brought a table cloth, set up everything and we felt like rock stars.

The concierge desk (especially Suki) was also great. They recommended some perfect tours for us, greeted us with towels on the beach after jet skiing and even re-booked our departing flight for us.

If you're planning on going to Bora Bora - STAY AT THE FOUR SEASONS!

Also, thank you for sharing the impact our staff had on your stay- it will be a pleasure to share this review with them. Thank you again- and we hope to welcome you back one day soon!

Everything you can expect from a resort and more...Bora Bora and the Four Seasons really deliver in the dream destination promise. The overwater bungalows are outstanding, extremely comfortable and truly beautiful. The view of mount Otemanu follows you everywhere, and in combination with that must-see-to-believe waters, it is just wonderful. The resort facilities are first rate and staff is professional and attentive, and we'd like to again register our thanks to Mr. Joao Mateus. Our only regret is that eventually we have to leave it and come home! Worth every cent, amazing vacations!

Room Tip: It adds to the bill but the view of Mt. Otemanu from the room is worth it!

My husband & I had the wonderful fortune of spending our honeymoon at the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora. It is exactly as you expected from what you see in all those gorgeous photos. And wow! Let me tell you about the service. It's unparalleled there. All the employees are so friendly, helpful & genuine. They knew immediately who we were upon arrival & always called us by our names. They made us feel so special and welcome at this resort. And it was not in a phony, pretentious way. They were all genuinely nice. The food was also very good here. My husband had his share of poisson crue [fresh raw fish with coconut milk] at the Beach Bar. The breakfast had a wide array of assorted foods that appealed to all. The juices and coffee were incredible. The Sunset Restaurant & Bar was nice. For us, the food was the least appealing here but the sunset view was our main interest. But the Arii Moana was delicious and was one of our favorite dinners during our stay in Bora Bora. Our rooms were pretty fabulous. And although we thought the rooms would be the highlight of our stay, it was really the staff at this resort that was most delightful!

Once you embrace the fact that Bora Bora and the Four Seasons will be one of the most costly combinations of destination and accommodations in the world, you can truly enjoy the magnificent beauty of the island and outstanding service, immaculate grounds, and exceptional facility.

During our stay, we didn't leave the island, and we didn't take part in any excursions. Our weather was OK during the 4 nights we had at The Four Seasons. One of the days was a complete wash out but the other days were either partly sunny, or overcast. Regardless of the weather, we enjoyed every moment of our stay. We had a daily routine of going to the fitness center, and then exploring the island. We would walk the beach/lava rock/coral behind the spa on the ocean side. It's natural, raw beauty - I don't think we saw more than 1 person each day. If you'd like to get off the beaten path, be sure you wear water shoes (it is not white, powder beach - lots of volcanic rock and coral). During our walks we saw sting rays, sharks, and beautiful fish. If you're into shells - this is a terrific place to go! After our walk, we would shower and head to breakfast. In our opinion, breakfast was the best meal at the Four Seasons. Phenomenal pastries, wide variety of options, and terrific "juice of the day." The only criticism we would be is to keep the cold items more cold. Sometimes, the cold items were room temp/look warm. After breakfast, we would either snorkel, kayak, stand up paddle board or head to the pool. Afterward, we would head to our room, enjoy the bungalow/water, shower, and have a cocktail on the deck. By 6ish, we would take our nightly stroll into the resort for dinner. We ate at the main restaurant once and ate at the Sunset Bar all of the other nights. The Sunset Bar was our favorite.

If you read reviews of Bora Bora vs. Moorea, most reviews will tell you that Moorea is more beautiful and better than Bora Bora. Moorea is more affordable; however, NOTHING else even compares to Bora Bora and the Four Seasons. This was hands down, our favorite island of our visit. I am convinced that the choice made for accommodations in Bora Bora are the defining reason for preference of island. Thank you Four Seasons for abetting in such an incredible vacation!
