After visiting Moorea for the first leg of our honeymoon I didn't think it could get much better. Wrong - insanely wrong. From Clement's warm welcome in reception to Ernest's attentiveness poolside, this really was 5*+! We stayed in an OWB bungalow 327 which was further into the ocean and therefore afforded us more privacy however no matter which bungalow you are awarded you can't go wrong - they are all extremely spacious. The boat trip to the 'mainland' runs twice a day and is free at lunchtime but costs 3000 return in the evening. This we found a tad expensive however if you go in the evening find out when the band is playing at Mai Kai and go that day. Once you are in the resort all the facilities are free, this extends to the sunblock!! Enjoy

The Four Seasons Resort in Bora Bora is absolutely incredible! The grounds are beyond imagination, our cottage over water was large and extremely comfortable. The staff were welcoming, respectful and couldn't be more helpful. We particularly loved the Sunset Bar which served the most delicious sushi while we watched beautiful sunsets each evening.

Room tip: All rooms are beautiful. Suggest rooms a bit further out from land for more privacy.

What a fantastic property and experience. Not a single negative thing to say. From the moment we stepped off the plane, until they handed us our bags back at the airport a week later, it was an incredible experience. As I have told everyone on our return, the jaw-dropping visual beauty of the 4S grounds, the lagoon, and the view of the mountain from all points at the resort are really just mind-blowing. The staff was incredible, the service fantastic. As just one example, our departure flight was at 5p, we checked out of our room at noon and enjoyed a final afternoon at the pool and beach. We then had the simply delightful use of the spa facilities (nice shower, clean cool locker room, all the grooming tools one would want) to clean-up and refresh before they whisked us off to the airport on their gorgeous airport taxi boats at just the right time. We would return in a moment, but BB is so far, and it does take some $. But if this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip, this is your place.

Room tip: Mountain View is the way to go, you will spend much time at your bungalow, and that view is priceless.

My wife and I were lucky enough to return to the Four Seasons Bora Bora at the end of August for a romantic, relaxing getaway.

We stayed at the Seasons back in May 2010 for our anniversary and said ourselves that we would return someday. Well, a few trips to other destinations and a few years later, we finally made it back.

We generally don't return to the same destination twice, as there are too many beautiful places in the world to see, but we were so glad to come back here.

We arrived early in the morning around 9am and were picked up by the large white Four Seasons catamaran from the Bora Bora Airport. There were quite a few guests checking in, as usually they use the smaller ships for transfers. Check in was easy, and they had our room available right away. We had called and emailed before our stay noting we wanted to check in early and that we had visited before. I'm not sure if this had any bearing with our room, but we were upgraded to the Mountain View bungalow with sunset views, Room 329 (we booked a resort view).

August/September is rainy/windy season, and unfortunately the first day was a little rainy. Lucky for us, I booked the Kahaia Spa Suite for the afternoon.

The treatment was wonderful. My wife and I had the suite to ourselves for three hours, overlooking their own inner lagoon. We relaxed in the coconut bath and had fresh fruits. Just pure relaxing bliss.

The next week was heaven. Previous staff whom we had met the first time remembered us and seemed to especially be happy that we returned. Somehow, the entire staff knows your every move and knows your name. The room was turned over twice a day, as the maids quietly slipped in while we at breakfast or at the beach.

We had a couple of excursions planned for our stay. One was a private tour from Raanui tours and a circle island tour on a Jet Ski. The Jet Ski tours are a little pricey, but very worth it just to go the shallow sand bar near the Bora Bora Pearl (I think). Just calm warm clear waters w/ beautiful views.

We booked a few dinners in town at the St. James and at La Villa Mahana, which were amazing as well as visiting the St. Regis for dinner. Transfers do cost money just FYI.

We also booked a private beach dinner with show on our second to last night there. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating. Aurelian, the food services manager, and Mika called us in the morning and said that they had something special planned that they had never done before.

During our last stay, the dinner was on the beach, overlooking the lagoon near the pool. After dinner, our waiter performed a mini fire show. However, because of the wind and rain, the dinner was moved to our own private cabana at the pool. Mika, who waited on us two years ago, was amazing in setting it up. He used one the private pool cabana's and turned it into a Polynesian themed room with our own table, candles, pareo cloth. Mika and his girlfriend (who works at Tere Nui restaurant) spent the previous night making us lei's and a vanilla bean bracelet.
We loved all the special touches.

The food was great, and the menu had changed from the last time we were there. We had some Polynesian appetitizers and canapes, then proceeded to a family style type dinner. There was local reef fish, beef, chicken, and local lobster, with assorted dipping sauces and side dishes, such as coconut mashed potatoes. Desert was also a mini multidish event. There was so much food, we couldn't finish it all. Alas, no fire show this time, as the wind would have probably picked up the flames and burned the place down.

The set up and dinner, despite the weather blew our minds away. They had never done this before, as usually the only option during bad weather was a private dinner in our own villa. I told my wife that morning that they would do something special and they did. It went over so well that the managers were saying they would do it again when the weather was bad. Our hats off to Mika and Aurelian for setting this up. It just felt as if they only did this for us, as they had never done anything like this before.

Alas, all things come to an end, and we hated to leave. We were able to check out late, as our flight to Papeete was at 6pm. Having late check out is worth it as you can relax, eat and take a shower before you leave. Check out was easy, and we were whisked away to the airport.

My wife and I made a pact during our private dinner: to return every few years, and I know we will.

Thank you to the Four Seasons for making our trip unforgettable again.

We stayed with Four Seasons Bora Bora for 8 nights from September 8th 2012.
We have been to Bora Bora before and this time travelled with our 9 year old son
and selected FS Bora Bora on the basis of reviews, resort facilities and that it appeared to cater to kids as well.
From the moment you arrive at the airport motu and are escorted to the classic planing launch through to the resort arrival and in room check-in you realise this is a very special place.
We were overjoyed to have been upgraded to the mountain view room and it is a magnificent room with a fantastic view.
They had arranged a bed for our son (in a separate room to our bedroom) as well as gifts which he still now treasures.
The service is prompt, the staff polite and friendly.
There is no sign what-so-ever of the 'island-time' (which is an excuse for poor service) that tends to plague south pacific resorts.
Yes, the food and drinks are expensive however just accept it since you are being pampered in paradise.
The kids club is excellent (and complimentary).
We had both my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary during the 8 days and these dates were delightfully acknowledged by staff during our stay.
The grounds are extensive, clean & manicured. We enjoyed snorkelling the lagoon reserve with our son and walking to the ocean side of the reef.
Staff provided a genuine farwell to us at the boat and the delightful kids club lady even gave a carved shell dolphin necklace to our son as a farewell gift. He was very sad to leave.
Really - the worse thing about staying at this resort is leaving it.
Highlights of the trip :
Mountain view room : swimming, lounging, sunbathing, snoozing; we loved every minute !
Snorkelling trip : we snorkelled with mantas, eagle rays, whales (wow!!!!) and dolphins.
Scuba diving : Dived with Bora Diving Centre (rather than the resort recommended Topdive) - see my review of this operation on trip advisor as well.

I dont see how we can keep away from this place for too long !

Maruru! Four Seasons Bora Bora.
