Firstly, Bora Bora!!! Whew so the place over powers everything possible flaws one can pick!

Ok, so customer service is not a big thing here so do not look for room service or a smile with your breakfast! You gotta earn da smiles! So on a 10 day trip the staff warmed up to us by the 3rd -4th day. Nonetheless, the hotel has a turn down service and the over water bungalows are great! Well, all over Bora Bora da bungalows r great! The breakfast spread is nice and scrumptious but is the same everyday! Also, would get over by 10 am so don't be late! Should not be a problem as Bora Bora sleeps early! We took the half board with our stay and was a wise decision as hunting dinner in the night was not very economical or even practical as you would spend for the transport as well as the food! The Fare Taamai restaurant on the beach serves a very good dinner and has some insanely delicious desert options too!

Excursions and activities seemed expensive but on further review we realized since the activities are provided by just 2 providers the rates are same on the island!

Tip - Pay in Euros! Rate is fixed on the island at 119.33 and is easier to carry that the XPF.

Room Tip: Over water Bungalow 16 or 105 have the best view! We stayed in 16! Ensure you ask for it! Take breakfast and dinner from the hotel and eat lunch out! A supermart right down the block is your cheapest deal for everything from water to food!

I loved every minute here. The first two nights we stayed here, we were on the top floor (worth the climb - gorgeous views). On our last night, we wanted to stay in an over water bungalow. The staff were very accommodating and moved our luggage for us. The bungalow was perfect and was the the ideal way to end a dream vacation!

We came here for the Liquid Festival that was happening at the Sofitel. We got a much better deal here then we could get anywhere else so we thought that the hotel might not be so great but we were happy to see that we were wrong! The hotel is lovely, clean and quiet. The beach is great with snokeling right there. It was a perfect place to paddleboard.

The restaurant is one of the best on the island. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will stay here again for sure.

If you are here to explore the island and go snokeling, etc. then save the money you would spend at one of the big resorts and use it for great meals and rent a moped right here and tour the island! There is no pool but the ocean is right across the street. They have an airport shuttle which was great. I highly recommend this place!

Room Tip: Save money by getting a garden room instead of a bungalow, you don't have the view but you aren't going to be in your room much anyway! Save the money for other things.

Hotel Maitai was a very pleasant surprise in this highly commercialized World. Staff are down to
earth, helpful and always smiling. As a mature traveller I was very skeptical of medium priced accommodation; what a nice surprise. I would recommend this Hotel to any of my friends. My
room was large and the king size bed very comfortable. Breakfast is a buffet of local fruits, cereals, bacon, eggs, yogurt; everything was provided. All you had to do was ask. The safari around the island was spectacular, giving you the bird's eye view of the reef and the large cannons from WWII; all the way up the hill!! I went on a day trip to feed the sharks and stingrays. First time I have kissed a stingray. Great trip with our escorts playing instruments
and singing most of the day - great. Snorkelling in 7metres deep ocean was also a first, at 66, if I can do it anyone can. They are the best cooks at the Hotel restaurant - Fantastic. I shall be back to enjoy another vacation. Thank you Staff Maitai!!

Room Tip: Can you walk up a steep hill? Then take the top floor - for the view, and excercise.

We had a terrific time at the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only issue was that the safe in our room was not working. The staff ended up giving us the key to the safe, which was fine.

The facilities are quite simple, there are no pools or gyms like the resorts next door. But if you have an over the water bungalow, I don't understand why anyone needs a pool or gym. We stayed in the over water bungalows, which are a small reef underneath and lots of fish to make for great snorkelling. Our room was 108. If you want an over water bungalow, I urge you to go for 106 - 109 which faces out to the ocean, some of the other bungalows faces to the beach.

For the price, the rooms were decent and clean enough. We had buffet breakfast and a 3 course dinner included. But drinks are not included. For the price of food on the island, I think it was great value!
