My wife and I traveled here Oct. 2012 (I'm really late getting this review up). We stayed in a Premium over water bungalow for 4 nights and all I can say is WOW!! Get up in the morning, jump in water right off your bungalow, shower on steps, sip drinks in lounger, eat great meals, repeat. The entire resort is absolutely beautiful with many boats you can use or you can simply swim with the sting rays (from a distance!). They have a really cool man made reef area for snorkeling right at the resort... awesome. Plus each bungalow has a small reef under it that can be viewed thru the glass coffee table. The mountain across the bay also added a picturesque view from our balcony. Highest recommendation!

Room Tip: The Premium over water bungalows are worth the extra money!

We were warmly received and checked into our beachfront bungalow that overlooked Mount.Ote Manu. Wow! What a magical place. This is paradise indeed!

The bungalow was spacious and we were just a few feet from the lagoon. A beautiful frangipani tree gave us shade. We loved the outdoor shower. The kids loved it. Great value for money!
Spa is pretty good too.

The New Year's party was quite a show but the food could have been better. The hotel does not have a fireworks display like some on the other side of the island.

The hotel has a lot of activities for free - ping pong, tennis, kayaks etc. The pool could use an update. The food was just passing grade at best. We ate all our dinners out at restaurants.
The hotel schedules a 6:30 pm drop off and restaurants send a taxi.

The staff at the activities desk and the shop were extremely friendly, helpful and nice.We spent 5 nights at the hotel and did not want to leave!

Room Tip: Beach bungalows are awesome especially for families.

The Pearl Beach Resort is located on one of the outer islands - just south of the airport. It offers either over the water bungalows or garden bungalows. We opted for a garden bungalow as it offers a private garden, cabana and plunge pool (and after all, for how long can you look down through a window in the floor?). The privacy of the garden bungalow allowed us to really relax. The plunge pool is terrific after a swim in the ocean or just for a cool down. The room was spacious and well equipped - and included a great outdoor shower. The resort has a great bar, a great restaurant (for breakfast and dinner) and a great cafe for lunch. The resort has a good 200 m of beachfront and terrific views of the main island. The location provides almost continuous cooling easterly winds across the water. Prices were normal by Tahiti standards. A number of tours and trips are available to get onto the water or onto the main island. We didn't go to the Manea Spa but it is a big one with lots on offer.

Room Tip: I think the garden bungalows on the beach front are probably the pick of a good bunch.

We stayed in a Garden Bungalow, which had its own private garden and jacuzzi. The room was amazing, very comfortable with a fabulous outdoor shower, patio area and air conditioning (an absolute must for this part of the world!)
The staff at Pearl Beach were very welcoming and helpful and little touches like greeting us by name (good morning Mr and Mrs Smith!) made us feel very welcomed and valued. On our final evening we were treated to a fabulous Tahitian dining experience, with a table in the restaurant overlooking the lagoon and the table decorated with traditional flowers and decorations, amazing.
The resort itself is the perfect place to relax and overlooks the main island of Bora Bora.
On our penultimate day we had a Tahitian style massage which was truly amazing, I didn't want it to end.
Thanks to the staff here for making our honeymoon so memorable.

Stayed here for 6 nights for honeymoon and overall were very satisfied. We had a premium overwater bungalow which we felt was worth the small extra fee. Rooms 39-42 have excellent sunsets but no view of the mountain on the main island.

There was not really a problem with the breeze on the further out bungalows as this meant we had no problems with Mosquitos. The bungalows felt very authentic and were certainly good value compared to some of the other resorts we looked at. I felt that we got a good deal. The breakfast which was included was of a high standard and had a lot of choice. Regarding the rest of the resort, the spa was quite expensive but everything else was fairly priced. The hotel organises all bookings at outside restaurants for you too which is helpful.

The only negative was that some of the restaurant staff seemed a bit reluctant to be at work, aside from the senior staff who were excellent and welcoming. Overall I'm glad we chose this for honeymoon, we felt that this was a piece of paradise without breaking the bank.

We loved our OWB. Being able to swim off our bungalow and having coral under it was awesome for snorkeling at the hotel. We had the best view of the island. The Pearl Beach was amazing and Bora Bora could not have been more beautiful!! Also, the spa was absolutely fabulous. Try a Bora Sunset too!

Room Tip: Get the over water bungalow. Totally worth it.

This hotel was more affordable than some of the others (e.g., Intercontinental, St. Regis, etc.) so we chose the Pearl for our 2nd half of our honeymoon and stayed in an OWB. When you arrive in Bora Bora, each hotel sends a boat to pick you up at the airport and bring you to your resort. Based on the boats alone, you can tell a lot about where each hotel invests its resources - the Intercontinental and St. Regis had huge modern yachts whereas the Pearl had a smaller no-frills boat.
When we arrived, greeting service was superb and very friendly and simple. It was very windy and a little chilly after sundown during our stay and the service at the front desk was helpful in recommending the best tours/ excursions and restaurants that were best for the weather. Overall, we felt that dining outside of the hotels/ resorts was a better option (considering variety, quality and price) but when we had lunch or decided to try out the hotel food, the "Italian" restaurant was sub-par but the room service, pool area restaurant and breakfast were fine.
The bungalow and resort views were beautiful and we could not have expected or asked for anything more in the layout, cleanliness or quality of our bungalow. Service was great and we just loved the private deck and lagoon access. We headed to the pool for one day but turned back around fairly quickly because it was desolate and poorly kept - lining did not look clean, area was overgrown, water did not look appealing.
Overall, I feel like you can't go wrong with an overwater bungalow so if you're selecting a hotel based on price, this is definitely the best option - I can't imagine what the St. Regis or Intercontinental have in their OWBs that are *worth* the prices they charge. If the outdoor amenities such as pool and/ or restaurants are more important, than this hotel will likely not impress.
Have fun!
