“25th Wedding Anniversary in PARADISE!”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

From the welcome to the farewell, this resort stay wasgreat. The staff are very friendly. We felt that the language barrier was a bit of a problem. No one really had a command of the English language. The only thing I can suggest to Hilton is that the wait staff has better training, and the restaurant is better stocked. There were several times when the staff walked right by us for 10 minutes after seating us. Other times they were very attentive. Very inconsistent. The breakfast buffet was GREAT. The lunch menu was mediocre and they often run out of things. The (Iriatani) restaurant has excellent food, but the service staff was also inconsistent. We ate there 4 times. One night took 2 1/2 hours because of the staff and we left before receiving our desert course. In fairness, it arrived at our over-water bungalow 15 minutes after we left. They apologized profusely. These are the only reasons that we decided on a 4 star review, and I think part of the reason to is just the laid back island culture with that locals. The resort is impeccably maintained and operated. The Hina spa and it's attendants and therapists are AMAZING. The grounds are amazing and the beaches are uncrowded even when the resort was full at high season. It was truly a paradise on earth. We can't wait to go back.

We spent 7 nights in May 2013 in deluxe overwater bungalow #103, and the view from its deck was extraordinary -- open turquoise water in one direction and a view through a pass between two motus (offshore islands) to the main island of Bora Bora in the other direction. There is no question that the location is gorgeous, and the local people are lovely, but that's where our praise must end. Given the isolation of this resort and the very high price of the accommodations, we were shocked to find that we were not provided with safe drinking water or adequate bath linens. There was one bottle of water in the room upon our arrival as a welcome gift, but we received no further water during the week even though the resort recommended against drinking the tap water. AND THE COST OF BUYING BOTTLED WATER WAS OUTRAGEOUS! Plus they charge about $20 to deliver it to your room and another $20 to remove the contents of the touch-and-you-buy-it minibar to make room for it. The bath linen supply was insufficient, inconsistent, and baffling. Some days, there would be no hand towels or washcloths. On other days, one or the other were provided, and we would hang them up to reuse them so they wouldn't be taken, like a sign directed, but they were taken anyway and not replaced. I guess it was some other guests' turns to use them! At one point, I was told my husband and would have to share one washcloth! Like some other reviewers reported, the food quality here is very poor, especially for the very high prices, but the service is even worse. Trying to get a simple gin and tonic was an ordeal. We had to ask for ice over and over; we even asked the new Food & Beverage Manager, Olivier, for some, but it never came. I finally had to go to the bar myself to beg for ice and to the dinner buffet to find slices of lime. One night, the waiter brought my gin but not my husband's; instead, he had given his to a 5-year-old girl at the table behind us! As I said earlier, the local people who work at the resort are lovely, but they have clearly not been trained to provide even passable service, let alone the quality of service required at a resort that charges the prices that the Hilton Bora Bora Nui does. The bungalow was comfortable but dated and very dark inside, and I had a stiff neck after sleeping on the hard foam pillows provided. They do have feather pillows, but you have to ask for them. On the plus side, the massages given by John and Leilani were extraordinary!

Room Tip: Overwater bungalow #103 for the view (see photos).

If you are ever able to get here you will never want to leave. My husband and I stayed here for a week on our honeymoon. We have not stopped raving about our time in Bora Bora and the Hilton offers a wonderful experience for their guests with friendly staff, an endless list of amenities, and options for activities. It is certainly expensive but what do you expect for a slice of paradise? I would recommend going into town to purchase snacks and drinks in order to save a little bit of money...this will also give you the chance to spend more time away from the main bar/restaurants and in your bungalow. We stayed in both an on-land cabin as well as an over-water bungalow. Both were amazing. The rooms are gorgeous and the views are, of course, even better. One cannot explain the feeling of waking up to an ocean breeze and having nothing to do but jump out the door into crystal clear water. Mauruuru Bora Bora!

Room Tip: The over water bungalows cost a little more but are well worth the added expense...a must do for at...

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui for 8 days and 7 nights for our honeymoon. It was pretty close to perfect. We opted for the hotel's direct shuttle transfer from the airport, which was a beautiful ride and very convenient. We got to the hotel at 9am (after 14 hours of red-eye travel), way before check-in at 2pm. We were welcomed with a refreshing, scented, moist cloth and shot of juice. I know some have complained about difficulties with waiting for rooms to be ready, but this is how we handled it: We grabbed our swimsuits and beach essentials from where they were keeping our luggage for the day, and changed in the private restrooms (and later found out that they actually have rooms available for showering and changing, which we utilized on our last day after check out before our red eye flight out, you just have to ask). Then we headed to the pool, Temure Grill for lunch, and finally the hammock on the beach. Before we knew it, it was time for check in.

The rest of the stay was nothing short of amazing. The staff was friendly and accommodating (and seem to work consistent shifts so you really get to know them). All three restaurants were great. The breakfast buffet at Temure Grill was arguably my favorite part of each day mostly due to the exotic fruits, sand between my toes, and ocean view; and the rest of the buffet (delicious pastries, plenty of protein options, American favorites, and traditional Polynesian dishes) was also great. The two other restaurants (Upa Upa and Iriati) were also great, but I'm not sure the Friday night buffet at Iriati was worth the price (however, it was truly delicious). The Tuesday night party at Temure is a must-do, very fun, and I recommend concentrating on the "starters" room, that's where the best food was.

Another thing that was great about the Hilton is that it is on a Fennui, which is different from a motu in that it is formed from volcanic rock (yet still has white sand beaches) so it has its own little mountain, which was beautiful. The flat motu's seemed a little plainer by comparison. However, if you want a view of the taller Mt. Otemanu and the sunrise in addition to the endless ocean, you'll want to stay in rooms 101-107 or nearby. We stayed in room 114 (regular overwater bungalow), and were a short swim away from what I think is the most beautiful spot on Earth- view of Mt. Otemanu on one side, and endless ocean past the breaking waves of the reef on the other, with lush motu scenery around as well. Our room was huge which gave us plenty of room to keep tidy and spread out and relax when we needed to get out of the strong sun.

We also had an opportunity to enjoy other amenities at the resort including the spa and water sports. The hot stone massage was great, and the view from the spa on the top of the mountain was breathtaking. There was never any shortage of water sport equipment, and I was able to get a kayak or paddle board whenever I wanted. There is also a hobby cat, that you can go out on with a guide. We were able to keep snorkel gear provided by the resort in our suite all week, and snorkeled almost every day. Fish came by our bungalow regularly, at least every five minutes. Rays swam by our place on two occasions, and a black tipped reef shark once (they do not harm humans unprevoked), which was really cool. I scraped my foot on coral once, and the handsome eco-educator/beach boy cleaned it right up.

The great thing about this resort is that there is no reason to leave with all of the food and activity options, but we did go to the main island a few times which just took a really short, fun boat shuttle. We had a wonderful time at this resort. One thing to brace yourself for about Bora Bora in general is that service is relatively slow, but being as that the ambiance/food is wonderful everywhere you go, I really don't know what the rush would be. If anything was not how we wanted it at any time at the Hilton, all we had to do was ask and our requests were warmly honored.

Overall the island is one in a million! Waking up every morning was breath taking!! We stayed in a over water deluxe villa lagoon side and it was breath taking! That being said...can you tell this hotel is 10 years old? Yes. The food on the hotel is mediocre. Breakfast is fine ours was free everyday and, you can order anything you want in the egg spectrum. Lunch? Outside of the fish and chips eeh okay?? Dinner...never good. Overpriced buffets and, we would pay anything that wasn't the problem...the food just was not good. However, the duet band at the French restauraunt (iratai) is GREAT! And they also play at the Mai Kai on Saturday!...the bar during day/night was poorly staffed and, the only person by the pool ready to go was the rec man (long hair) great guy. "Nicol" on the wave runners extremely rude and had no time for guests just himself. The spa expierence was wonderful! But the shower areas need to be greatly improved...dirty tile and a small shower head..staff at spa however was lovely ...we did the neh hee nehee and it was fabulous! The lobby also needed more staff especially that spoke English. Boat trips to main island for dinner were super easy and captains were so nice...but just 7:00-9:00 for dinner was so quick and scrunched. Overall truly an amazing honeymoon and one of a kind!!! Stay on lagoon side it's unreal!! And I will staff outside of one person was truly lovely and our room service was always much better than in the restauraunt!

Like the other previous writers I had read the reviews therefore was a little apprehensive about what to expect - well how wrong was I? Bora Bora is truly paradise and the resort was spectacular - our experience was wonderful. It was obvious that the restaurant staff were keen to please their customers as they where constantly asking whether things were ok. The food from the iritiria restaurant was fine dining as there was an array of choices and the service was excellent. Breakfast buffet accommodated all cuisines and like other reviewers you did not need lunch if you had a hardy breakfast. We were in the over the water bungalows 300 section and although some distance from the amenities we had sun hitting the deck all day, by the way who cares that you need to walk 10 minutes to get to the restaurants - the scenery is worth the walk. We didn't do any of the activities we just relaxed, read, sun baked and swam and not once was I bored and I am a highly active person. Would we return to the Hilton? Yes in a heartbeat - we are two satisfied Australians. Thank you to the Hilton staff

Stayed during feb 2010 for 5 days, the over water bungalow was nice. I believe it was the same time as the Haiti tsunami and we were alerted to rush to the restaurant at the top of the hill because the tsunami might affect bora bora as well. Luckily nothing happened. The service was friendly and attentive. Love the spa. But few downsides were the walk from our bungalow was far... At least 15 mins walk to the restaurant everyday. We hopped onto a boat ride to a near by island for local seafood, it was okay...it was a good experience but I would prefer a resort with more activities on my next visit to bora bora
