“Great Hotel”

This is a great Hilton property. Outstanding rooms and very good restaurant. Snorkeling from overwater rooms is fantastic. If you have the opportunity, I recommend room 107... panoramic view of ocean and mountain, separate sitting room, private hot tub on over water deck.

Food service was slow, but food quality was good. The concierge desk was helpful, but there were occasional translation problems.

Highly recommend this resort, but if you want expansive views of the main island, this might not be your plce.

Room Tip: Room 107!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in May as part of our 10 year Anniversary. We stayed in Moorea for 6 nights before going to Bora Bora. This hotel and it’s grounds are breathtaking! We are Hilton Honors members and used points to book our room, and then paid to upgrade to an overwater bungalow – well worth it! This bungalow (#123) was beautiful with a traditional Polynesian feel. The hotel is on a motu, so Hilton has a boat shuttle that runs on the hour to get to to/from town. This was such a nice feature!

The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. We needed a converter to charge a laptop and nook and they let us borrow on from the front desk for the week! (There were no US plugs in our bungalow like we had in Moorea – not a big deal, just nice to know before you go!). They were also very helpful in booking excursions.

It was very nice that the hotel offers free activities. We enjoyed the paddle boats, kayaks, and they even have a Hobie cat that runs in the afternoons! One of the guys who runs the activities desk at the pool will take people out for a 30-45 minute ride to get a different perspective of the water. We also LOVED the cooking class. They offer it once a week, and they taught us how to make poisson cru – YUM!

The snorkeling is nice here too, although it’s much deeper than Moorea, so there isn’t as much visibility. The fish however are much bigger!

The views from the spa are a must, and the hike to get to the spa is beautiful – again the grounds here are well manicured and full of flowers.

One suggestion. We didn’t book a transfer to the hotel from the airport thru Hilton. I’d seen one TA review which talked about taking the FREE Air Tahiti shuttle into town (it comes with a booked seat on Air Tahiti) and then the Hilton shuttle from town to the hotel. We decided to try this and it worked out nicely for us! We had already been in the islands for a week, so we figured we’d just wing it (if I was travelling straight from the US to Bora Bora, I may not have been so brave), but we were happy that we did this – it saved us $200! When you get to the airport, you walk out to the dock and you’ll see an Air Tahiti boat. This boat will take you to Viatape (main town). From here you go to Robert Wan’s pearl shop and behind his shop is the dock where the free Hilton shuttle will pick you up. The Hilton shuttles run on the hour, so you may have to wait a bit, but for us it was well worth it!

Thanks Hilton for an amazing vacation!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui for the first week of June to celebrate our 2nd year anniversary, and it was undoubtedly one of the best hotels / resorts we have ever stayed at.

We stayed in bungalow 124 at the end of the pontoon, and while it was indeed a bit of a hike to the restaurant / boat dock [~400m per a Google maps plot], it was the most gorgeous walk imaginable – views of the lush hillside, the spa, and the azure blue water…seriously impossible to tire of the views.

The bungalow itself was well appointed, and HUGE [keep in mind this is based on San Francisco apartment standards]. The design does show its age to a degree [tube-based TV anyone?], and while I’ve heard complaints that it’s not as modern as the St. Regis or Four Seasons, modern design wasn’t necessarily the intent of architect / interior designer who I’m told sourced lots of local material and furniture. If you’re into dark woods, you’ll love it.

But enough with the room as it’s all about the views – in short, nothing but endless ocean with waves crashing way out the reef. At the end of the pontoon the water is definitely deeper. I swam to the bottom and it was definitely 12+ feet deep which makes it quite fun to jump from the balcony / deck – just an FYI in case you’re not comfortable in deeper water. The deeper water made for some fun snorkeling with some large corral heads both under the bungalow, pontoon walkway, and swimming 20-30 yards from our deck. Also great snorkeling directly under the main lobby…make sure to bring bread (which you can get during breakfast)! The only issue I had was the Hilton shuttle boat and other tour boats going by which creates a wake in the water…minor nitpick. The shuttle boat itself is a great perk, in particular since it leaves for the main island on the hour every hour. In contrast, the St. Regis which uses the same dock on the island comes just twice a day and charges $30-40 a person [don’t quote me on that].

I thought both the restaurants at the Hilton were great, and in fact I preferred the more casual restaurant which had a large selection and large portions to boot. The pizzas were particularly good, and I’d highly recommend the squid ink / seafood spaghetti as well as the sashimi platter for 2 – you’ll no doubt get your fill of fresh fish while on Bora Bora. You need to make reservations for the “nicer” restaurant, which I found interesting considering there was never more than 10 other people in there when I ate. I found the food good, but portions much smaller (yes I’m gluttonous) comparatively.

Just one complaint...the gym was total weak sauce and was definitely lacking in equipment. But honestly though, who except for the craziest of crazy workout when in paradise [I saw just one other person working out during our week stay].

so this is long overdue, we had gone to bora bora for our honeymoon, it was a total surprise for my wife. i did a lot of research on the hotels at bora bora and this was far the better, as it is on its own island! check it out on google maps! we had the far left over the water hut.. which i recommend if you are going all out!

Absolutely beautiful place, people were super friendly, make sure you get breakfast included (you will save a little more money).

We had a great time celebrating our 10th anniversary a the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa. The overwater suites were worth the upgrade - the snorkelling was fantastic right outside of our bungalow and the water was more gorgeous than pictures can capture. We would also recommend taking the lagoon tour where you get to swim with reef sharks and sting rays. Overall this was an incredibly relaxing and romantic vacation. If you would like night-life, this is NOT the place you should go!
