Less a meal in a restaurant and more an intimate dinner with friends! Titaua was the perfect hostess from start to finish..warm and welcoming, offering a detailed explanation of the menu, and delivering friendly service throughout the evening. Laurent worked the kitchen with equal skill. His choices of entrees were expertly prepared with the utmost care (he even came out to confirm our specific tastes while in the midst of cooking). The food and ambiance were so enjoyable we changed plans to return a second time for our last night on the island. Different menu (offerings change daily) but the experience was equally good. Far better than the resort food (and cheaper, more cozy, less crowded, etc.), the restaurant is worth the trip, you won't be disappointed. We were there the week after they opened and they were already fantastic, probably even better now.

After being quite disappointed with the food at our hotel, we were told to visit Kaina Hut by a local and it was nothing short of amazing! We arrived a bit earlier than opening, but were greeted by the owners Titaua & Laurent and welcomed to great conversation and drinks at the bar. Laurent is an amazing chef...we were starving and definitely ordered more than we could handle, but it was our mission to clean our plates. The menu changes so we were intent on making it to Kaina Hut at least one other night during our trip, but our timing just kept working against us. We are still dreaming about the food. Aside from the food, the decor and atmosphere is amazing. You feel at home from the moment you walk in. We will definitely be back! This is a must-go during your trip.

Amazing food! We didn't understand the concept at first but then realised we had to get up to read the menu on the blackboard; They have a selection of three or four starters, main courses & desserts...
Go for the 'Tartine Gourmande' finished by a homemade creme brulee..soooooo good!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Kaina Hut. As we walked in we noticed that the floor is sea sand and a sign invites you to take off your shoes...if you want to. We had a warm greeting as we arrived and, before being seated, we were guided through the menu on the blackboard (thankfully, because our French is not good). The food was all excellent, and apparently they change their menu every night, so my wife suggested we go another night but sadly we did not have another opportunity. We highly recommend Kaina Hut for relaxed fine dining!

Being recommended by a friend, my cousin & I were amazed at... everything. From the warm welcome & the nice setting to the "appetizers" (mussels cooked au gratin with a glass of white wine) taken at the lounge, in comfy chairs at a coffee table, while our rib roast was being cooked during one hour & the lovely tiramisu; not only was the food gourmet & delicious but everything was awesome.
Titaua & Laurent are doing a great job as they've started for just a month now. They have local as well as international experiences (lived & worked in Marrakech, Morocco).
We liked the chatting with them, the music, the garden, the decor with shells, local lampshades (from Maohi Art or Tahiti Art maybe), the sand floor, the "maru maru" wooden tables, the pandanus leaves roof, the cosy atmosphere, the concept of bar/bistrot/dining, the service, the FOOD again of course. Try the limoncini as the after-meal liqueur, so refreshing. They also provide internet access, are open until about 10:30 pm, which is great for people living or working on a motu. Closed on Wednesdays.
My second visit was tonight, just a week after my first, with a friend : half-cooked tuna followed by a tiramisu bastogne & a chocolate moëlleux. It was sooooo goooood!!!
Titaua & Laurent's Bora Kaina Hut is becoming one of my favourite dining tables, if not my favourite...
Keep up the excellent work & wishing you all the best guys.
To be continued!!!
