“So Kind to Hyperventilator (me)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

Everyone in my group was gung-ho about flightseeing while we were in Alaska...me, not so much. I hoped everyone would forget, but instead they researched and found the most recommended: Talkeetna Air Taxi. Still not reassured and felt like I was going to toss my cookies even as we walked into the office. But from there on out, it was a different story. Everyone was so professional...friendly but also very professional. And the flight itself--well, I'm so glad I didn't let my fears stop me from going up. Great pilot. INCREDIBLE scenery. You felt like you could reach out and touch the mountainsides as you circled around. The intense blue glacier pools were amazing and oh yeah, then we landed on a glacier. Got some pictures of us throwing snowballs ON A FREAKIN' GLACIER!! Would do it again in a heartbeat--definitely a highlight of our trip!!

“Amazing aircraft, pilots and facilities. Unbelievable views.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

This operation is first class. Being a commercial pilot and turbine aircraft operator myself, I was keenly aware of the equipment and operational aspects of Talkeetna Air Taxi. Everything exceeded expectations. From the check-in process, boarding, the flight itself, the expertise of our pilot (Trent), the glacier landing - everything about this was outstanding. You will not regret taking this tour!

“Flightseeing Mount Denali”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013

Talkeetna: Around the Denali
A few hours by car north of Anchorage towards the Mountain range lies the small Alaskan town of Talkeetna. A right turn from the main road will bring you to the airfield. There several companies offer sightseeing flights to and around the Mount McKinley (Denali). We selected the Talkeetna Air Taxi which operates a number of venerable Beavers and Otters besides a Cessna 182, all of them on skies. One can book several different routes. For us the tour around Mount McKinley with a landing on the glacier was the most appealing. On the flight to the mountains of the Alaska range the different colors of the tundra was beautiful to watch. We flew over many little lakes. The pilot acted also as tour guide and explained everything we could see. We followed a long glacier tongue crossed over a pass to come to the impressive north face of the Denali Mountain. Although we flew at about 10 000 feet we still remained well below the top of this snow covered giant of about 20 000 ft. A little further the pilot headed to a snow plateau where he put down the airplane softly on the snow covered glacier. We all stepped on the snow (it is advisable to wear firm shoes instead of sneakers) and enjoyed the sight of the surrounding 15 000 feet high mountains. Our pilot explained that we must not stay to long because the aircraft engine would cool down too much. Taking off downhill with the ground dropping away is always a great experience. The flight back to the airfield showed again the picturesque scenery of the tundra. This flight was definitely a highpoint of our Alaska trip. We highly can recommend it especially in the not so common case of picking a nearly cloudless day on both sides of the Alaskan range. One should add that there are many other activities to choose from, fishing, hiking kayaking to name just a few, while spending time in Talkeetna.

“Highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

We had been looking forward to this excursion ever since we booked our trip to Alaska, and it did not disappoint. This was one of the best things we did in Alaska...I HIGHLY recommend it! We took the Grand Denali tour with a glacier landing, which offered breathtaking views of Denali and an incredibly peaceful landing on a glacier. Everything about the tour exceeded our expectations. One recommendation I have is to allow some flexibility in your schedule in case the weather requires your tour to be rescheduled. The great thing about Talkeetna Air is that they are honest about the weather conditions and how that will impact the tour, and they will work with you to reschedule. You can tell this company really cares about their customers and want to give you the best experience possible.

“Option of Refund If Weather Not Perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

We booked the early departure for the free glacier landing. The weather was bad upon our arrival in Talkeetna the night before. The morning of our flight the weather was still bad. We arrived at Talkeetna Air Taxi and they briefed us of the weather conditions. They were still flying because the mountain was viewable from the other side but they would not be able to do the glacier landing. They gave us the option of canceling which we decided to do since we wouldn't get the full experience. They promptly refunded our deposit. That is good customer service. If we get back to Alaska, we wouldn't hesitate to book with Talkeetna Air Taxi again.
