Owner description: Mahay's Jet Boat Adventures is a family owned business that has been in operation for over 30 years. We are located approximately 2 hours north of Anchorage, just 14 miles off the Parks Highway, on your way north to Denali National Park or Fairbanks. There are 3 different tours that you can choose from, with varying lengths and adventure, each offering something different. All trips include our 1/4 mile nature walk where Naturalists will talk with you about the early settlers in the area (the Dena'ina Indians and trappers)and show how basically and rustically they lived with the authentic replications of their dwellings. Our premier trip is the Devil's Canyon Tour where you will be able to experience Class V whitewater in the 45' jet boat, all while staying safe, dry and comfortable. There is also the Three Rivers Tour, where you will travel on the Chulitna River. This river is a braided river which offers a unique and picturesque experience. Alaska is one of 4 areas in the world that has an extensive braided river system.

Our trip to Devil's Canyon was a very good trip. The captain was very knowledgeable and the guide seemed to enjoy sharing her state and knowledge with us. Wildlife was limited to an eagle, an eagle's nest, and a tree that a beaver had bitten around.

...the six hours in the boat to go round trip to Devil's Canyon may have been more than I could enjoy. Staff were great and the jet boat was pretty nice for a "wilderness experience". Walk through the woods to an Eskimo camp and trappers cabin was a little hoaky but by that point it was good to stretch our legs. We had a nice day...if I had it to do again I would use a nice day to fly to and around Denali/Mt. McKinley.

Very professional, friendly staff and if it's your only chance to see the area do it. But June means high water, wildlife is very limited and tour doesn't travel very far up river before turning back. Hike was more a time filler than an adventure. There are better ways to spend your money if you have the time.

Take a jetboat ride to get a better appreciation for the nature and beauty of Alaska. See wildlife, get spectacular views of Mt McKinley and learn about the native and hunter/trapper way of life in this fun, historic and funky little town of Talkeetna. Have your camera always ready, you never know when you will see a bald eagle or a bear on the shore.

The two hour tour was a ride up the river with a few stops for nature observation and a docking for a short nature walk. The trapper's cabin on the walk was interesting. Don't bring teenage kids - they will be quite bored.
