“Great way to learn Talkeetna's history”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

This is a good little museum! We did not do the walking tour - but found this a welcome activity for a day where all our flightseeing plans were spoiled by rain. The history of town is presented, from gold mining, and trapping to climbing "the mountain". We also enjoyed a respite in the Ranger Cabin, with its large comfortable "great room" and video on Mount Denali - which was the closest we got to see it from the air. I'm sorry we missed the Ranger talk, but, along with the fun shops and restaurants in town, this helped turn a day around that could have depressing and glum!

In fact, I had read not very good reviews online about Talkeeetna in general, but I can say of all the places we visited in Alaska, this is one we would definitely come back to!

“Excellent visit, especially the Ranger presentation”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

This is a must-do in Talkeetna. The museum is excellent, and Sue and her co-workers do a fine job in explaining the history of the area. The highlight was the afternoon presentation from the US Park Ranger's presentation about Mount McKinley and those who climb it. Fascinating, and not to be missed.

“Learned so much about the area.”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

You can't beat the $3 admission which then gives you parking for the whole day in town. The speaker from the Forest Service about climbing Mt. McKinley was AWESOME! He had a great way of telling a story! I could listen to him all day. Lots of amazing artifacts.

“good value”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

This is a great little museum, and high value because the cost is only about $4. The old mountaineering stuff is worth a visit. It can take as little as 30', or as long as an hour or so depending how much you read. I would even go again...
