We enjoyed the scenic surroundings as well as the elegant public areas and the restaurant. We were served very good food. Our big "but" was that the room was uncomfortably overheated. Must be a common complaint as the suggestion from the desk was to throw open the windows (not so good in the weather we were having) and open the room door to the corridor (really?). I'd suggest just turn down the heating. Several in our party felt the same.

The lobby and other public spaces of the lodge are well laid out and nicely decorated. The lobby has a large open fireplace with a river rock facing that is very attractive. The view from the outside deck is simply stunning. The Foraker Dining Room, the on-premises restaurant with an Italian theme is not 5-star, but definitely well above average. It's signature dish, a Lobster Gnocci, was good, but not great. The antipasti and salads were excellent. Overall, the three of us had a very good dinner, with excellent service. The bistro and the restaurant serve the same breakfast buffet or there are breakfast items that can be ordered off a menu. Again, the food was very good, but definitely the service is what made the meal a memorable dining experience. The staff was uniformly friendly and professional. We lucked out an got a great afternoon view of Mr. McKinley. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. There are shuttles to the town on the half hour, but the lodge is otherwise out of the way.

Room Tip: Of course, try to get a north-facing room to see Denali.

I must say that this was the most beautiful place we stayed in Alaska. The lodge was gorgeous. The rooms were large and comfy and quiet. The views from every window were wonderful. And of course, the views of Mt. McKinley were amazing! We lucked out and saw it the afternoon we arrived as well as the next day. We could see it with every bite of dinner the first day and breakfast the second day. WoW! The main lobby has a multi-story fireplace with lots of cushy chairs and sofas to loll around in and watch the fire and the mountain. It was wonderful!

Loved this place, my title tells it all. The view from dining areas as well as our hotel room was amazing. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. The food was above average. We were fortunate to have clear weather, so were able to appreciate the location of this hotel. Staff was exceptional as well. This lodge was part of our land/cruise deal, so I really do not know exactly the per night true cost. My only complaint is that the shuttle stops running around 5:30 pm or something like that. I would love to stay here again.

This lodge is in a good location to explore talkeetna and the surrounding area, with free shuttles every 30 mins to town and services. The main lodge area and bar are very comfortable with open fires and wonderful views of the mountains (in clear weather!).

Rooms were average motel rooms, clean and comfortable, but I would expect a few extra nice touches for the room rate.

I always learn something while traveling. My lesson from staying at the Alaskan Lodge is not to get too hyped up about being about to see Mt. McKinley and paying more for a room with a view. This was my first trip to Alaska and apparently only 30% (approximately) of visitors actually get to see the mountain due to clear weather. It would have been extremely helpful, and appreciated, for the hotel staff to have filled me in on this detail instead of the upsale to the most expensive room. The hotel is nice and quiet, but next time I think I'll try something different.

Room Tip: Don't pay for the more expensive room unless you can guarantee you'll have a clear day.

We stayed here as part of our land base cruise tour. Very nice lodge. The rooms do not have air conditioning. We were here in early August . There are fans in the rooms which we used. You shouldn't need the air conditioning during the night because the temperature dropped and it was very cool. The lodge has a shuttle service to the town. The lodge has a special service if Mt. McKinley is visible in the morning the front desk will give you a wake up call so you can go outside and take pictures. We were very fortunate that one morning Mt. McKinley was out and we are now in the life time 30% club.

Room Tip: Get a rear room facing Mt. Mckinley and hope that is isn't cloudy because you will get a once an...
