“Fun all-day adventure in the water in kayaks and rafts”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2011

These guys have a great operation with good organization for pre-trip planning, as well as all of the gear you could need for your adventure. We did the kayaking on Byers Lake, lunch, and a float down the Chulitna River. I am from Alaska and enjoyed this Alaskan experience. All of the guys who work here are so incredibly nice. We felt comfortable from the van ride to the lake until we made our last landing on the beach in Talkeetna.

The lake was beautiful and it was so incredibly relaxing to start the morning there exploring around the lake and along a little stream. We did not need to show up with anything to keep ourselves dry and comfortable since they had anything we could need, including single or double kayaks, dry bags, rain gear, and boots.

Even our stop for lunch was at a fabulous restaurant with a (possible) view of Denali and great food. After that it was a very relaxing float on the river that offered many picturesque sights and fun commentary. The trip was a great getaway for my husband and I to get out and enjoy nature and time with each other. The only bad thing was that the rafting trip was a bit long, but luckily the weather was great and we enjoyed it.

“Truly Alaskan adventure with friendly and knowledgable guides”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2011

We took a full day with these educated and committed guides. A 4 mile kayaking trip around Beier lake was calming, peaceful, and even in the rain, had the most beautiful scenery. Lunch was provided by Mary Carey's Mt. McKinnley lodge. It's a historcal landmark that from the outside looks like a hole in the wall, but the culinary goodness that was served inside was well enjoyed. We then traveled to the Chulitna river, where our guide, Paul, gave us a narrated tour of the 19 miles from Denali to Talkeetna. The water is fairly calm, so if your looking for white water rapids - this isn't it... but if you are looking for a float that takes you through canyons and amongst the braids of the river, this is more your pace.
This guide service has been around a good while. The staff is professional, friendly, and most importantly, prepared. Being an Alaskan, i consider myself pretty well prepared when heading outdoors, but if there was anything I forgot, or that they thought would make my trip more enjoyable, they were sure to have it on hand. Waterproof boots, pants, jackets, warmer clothing, it was all on hand. The entire trip was well organized, and for a few people running it, events took place in a timely manner, and there was not a lot of waiting for preparations to happen.
I would recommend this trip to Alaskans and tourists alike. It is a lot to do for one day, so if time is short, it's the perfect adventure.

“Top class river rafting and kayak experience>”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2011

We booked the full day kayak/river float trip experience and were not disappointed. My husband and I were traveling with our 8 year old twins and they had the time of their lives. Everyone was an absolute professional from the time of booking until we said good-bye. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the area and helped us learn about our surroundings. We can't wait to go back. I would absolutely recommed them to anyone.
