We stayed for one night and felt awesome. It's very comfortable and spacy. Having a ping-pong table is amazing. Location is great, right in the middle of Talkeetna, 2 mins walking to K-2 or other aviations.

When we stayed at the Northern Guest House in Talkeetna, our stay was quite pleasant. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was great. It was a pretty good value for the room. The only problem is that the fan did not work well until we got the blades to turn by manually spinning them when we turned it on. If a new fan is obtained, everything would be perfect in the room. The Northern Guest House is a nice place to stay.

I was not expecting such a clean room with so much character. My hostess provided every convenience at a fair price, and left me my privacy all the same. The kitchen is easily accessible and as clean and comfortable as everything else. There were plenty of bicycles to use in a town that has no need of cars. This is a great refuge for anyone who has been who has been out roughing it, or besides.

I recommend this comfortable, handy place to stay while visiting Talkeetna. We used the bikes to explore the area, and enjoyed the screened in gazebo with a fire pit in the back. Paula was extremely helpful to us, and treated us to freshly caught smoked salmon!

We stayed two nights and were able to fully investigate and enjoy the town of Talkeetna, without using our vehicle. Everything is a short walking distance from the guest house and bikes are available to borrow. The owner, Paula, is very personable and dedicated whose goal is to make each guest feel welcomed. We definitely felt at home during our stay and especially enjoyed the evening camp fires inside the screened gazebo, a very relaxing time. We stayed upstairs in room 2 and was very satisfied with the room size, comfortable bed, individual bathroom and the lower level's kitchen and amusement amenities, all at an affordable price.

I stayed on a Sat. night with 1 couple and 3 singles. Had to change plans twice and the owner, Paula was easy and flexible each time. There are 3 rooms in the guest house, all with their own bathroom (not sure if any have a bathtub. The 2 I saw were stand-up showers). The rooms all have bedside lamps and multiple beds (singles and doubles) which make sharing a room easy. The baths are not attached to the rooms but are all close to each other. The guest house is nicely remodeled and has all the accommodations we needed or looked for. There are bikes available for use (free), a ping pong table, movies, radio/CD player, fully stocked kitchen, mosquito coils, 2 fire pits (one in front and the other in back in a screened pavillion), and it was a very comfortable place to stay. This is a pet friendly place but it is so clean you really wouldn't be able to tell. It is also extremely well priced. There is a large bedroom downstairs if you don't want to brave the spiral staircase. It's also right downtown and we didn't have to drive anywhere after we got to the home. I highly recommend this establishment to everyone.

The only con I have is that the downstairs bedroom has a distinct aroma. I recognize the scent but can't place it in order to document it in this review. I may be more sensitive to it, no one mentioned anything (I didn't ask either).

Room Tip: Downstairs room is the easiest access.

Northern Guest House was perfect for us, especially since we were traveling with our son, a dog and our daughter and her family -- they were in an RV and stayed in a nearby campground. Paula was welcoming to all, which in the rain was a blessing, and the kids enjoyed the ping-pong and video. The guest house is reasonably priced and in a perfect location, a quiet street just a block away from the liveliness of "downtown Talkeetna." Throughout our planning and over several phone calls, Paula was exceptionally helpful with tips for the whole family and the right room for Leo, the dog. Our ground-floor room was large and we shared the adjacent full kitchen with the upstairs guests. Our room was not connected to our bathroom, but this turned out to be fine since the guest house is small and no one was around when we crossed the sitting room to use it. Our long-legged vizsla might have had quite a time climbing the open spiral staircase to the other rooms--he voted for the ground floor.
