“Great Bar - Average Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

This place is the best bar by far on Yap, great service, awesome staff, good location and good deals!

However the food in the restaurant is only average, the menu is boring and the food needs to be revised and get some more flavour and freshnees.

Otherwise i love this place, got to know the staff in my 3 weeks on Yap. My daily hangout for an afternoon beer and drink!

“Go for the diving, stay for the food (& beer)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

Even people not staying at Manta Bay Hotel came to the Mnuw for food and drinks. It is its own little entertainment center. Great food, ambiance AND nightly videos (either diving themed shorts or full-length movies. The staff is awesome, friendly and will learn your name before you get a chance to remember theirs! Eat, Drink, but don't get too merry, you have to dive in the morning!!

The staff was very nice, the atmosphere of the old wooden ship was fun but the food was very expensive and mediocre. We really enjoyed sitting at the bar watching the nightly movie.

After eating at the other resort, we found the food here to be less than satisfactory. Tortillas were stiff, bread was stale, even my pizza-fiend children didn't like the pizza. Not so impressive. Good service, but the food was meh.

“Unique Setting, Limited Menu, Great Beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

Mnuw is the restaurant at the Manta Ray Bay Resort. The restaurant and bar are housed in an old Chinese cargo ship docked at the property and makes for a unique setting. It's important to remember that Yap is in the middle of the ocean, many miles from the mainland, which means the restaurants are not going to be Zagat or Michelin standards.

The ambience at Mnuw is wonderful with the ship's interior decorated with mementos of guests past. There is interior and exterior seating making good use of the various levels of the ship. The Crow's Nest bar on the top level is covered with sail shades and is a great place to drink and watch the sun set over the water. Don't forget to sample the local micro-brews brewed at the hotel - a light and dark beer, and a mix of the two called "The Texas Two Step".

A number of reviews noted very slow service. While the pace is certainly 'island time', this was not a bad thing and the service was always friendly and helpful. The only downside to Mnuw is that the lunch and dinner menu is limited (and the same). The fresh fish dishes were good but outside of that the choices are limited to hamburgers and pizzas. That all said, Mnuw is a pretty decent restaurant and you can't go wrong choosing it for lunch, dinner or breakfast.
