Last month, my wife and I spent 10 days at Manta Ray Bay Hotel. We had an amazing tripand were really impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the entire team from both the resort and the dive center.

As experienced dive professionals who travel often to new places to dive, my wife and I have stayed in a lot of dive resorts and Manta Ray Bay was truly top-notch. The room was great, the dive facilities were fantastic and the dive sites delivered loads of sharks and manta rays.

I'd strongly recommend a trip to Yap to stay and dive with these guys. Thanks Bill, Patricia and Jan!

The hotel were very helpful in finding us a room we were happy with. King sized bed and good views of the bay. The staff are really friendly and helpful; they are always laughing and smiling. The showers are hot and powerful, the towels big and fluffy - some of the best I've had in hotels for some years. The food is adequate rather than good, but that seems to be what it's like out here.

Of course you've come here for the diving, and we were less than fortunate to be in the middle of a vast depression and which was just dumping rain on us it seemed non-stop. The manager, Jan, was really apologetic, and he did his best. I felt sorry for him as he looked despairingly at the skies. Because of the weather the number of sites was limited to those in the lee side of the Island. But we did see mantas every day, also sting rays and eagle rays. The dive operation was first rate, the boats were fine and we stayed with the same people and crew for the week. There were more big towels on the boat and tea and cake between dives.

We tried eating out of the hotel couple of nights. Big mistake. Although there are 5 dive operators on the island , Yap divers was the only one with any guests. When 7, 8 or 9 of us walked into a restaurant, we overwhelmed the kitchen. But the Oasis cafe opposite was a good alternative for lunch.

It was the staff at the hotel and the dive shop which made this a great holiday. It drew everybody together and made you feels good. As did the massage in the spa.

This was my second visit to Manta Ray Bay Hotel (MRBH) and Yap Divers and
it was very enjoyable.
Our dive boat accommodated 5 divers very comfortably. The boat has tank
boots, a large covered area, dry boxes for clothes/towels. We were doing
3-tank trips so snack/lunch, water, hot tea and towels were provided.

Our crew, Nico and Chomed, did a great job; very helpful and friendly.

The marine life is primarily pelagics--mantas and sharks. Had several
awesome manta encounters at a relatively new cleaning station that is in
shallow water < 20'. Literally did 75 minute dives with several mantas.
Also, had a great shark-feed dive at the Vertigo dive site. The frozen chum
ball was suspended in mid-water with a blue water background; great for
photos and no sandy bottom stirred up.

There is limited macro-photo ops -- a few nudi's, leaf fish, and porcelain
crabs. The south end walls provide lots of swim thru's for leisurely dive
touring.

The MRBH provides nice, spacious, clean rooms. The restaurant (the Mnuw)
has good food but not a great variety. The in-house brew, Stone Money, is a
good libation. The resort staff was helpful and friendly.

My room could use some additional lighting and power outlets. Internet is
very expensive at $7/hr. Walk to the phone company (about 5 minutes) and by
a 200 MB card for $20. It should last several days and provides a good
connection.

I would visit Yap and MRBH for a 3rd time but not in the near future.

Room Tip: There is no elevator in the hotel, so it may be best to get a first floor room.

We spent 10 days at the Manta Ray Bay Hotel attending Mantafest, a photography event where amateurs get a chance to mingle with pros and win great prizes. The diving was incredible with lots of opportunities to dive with mantas and sharks in warm waters. The macro opportunities were plentiful as well: leaffish, nudis shrimps, gobies, flatworms, mandarin etc. The resort is perfect: clean, airy, comfortable with incredible service. The dive operation is one of the finest we have encountered in 20 years of diving all over the world: efficient boats, small numbers of divers per boat, great guides. The restaurant and bar are unique with a good selection of fresh food and outstanding beer brewed on a microbrewery on the premises. Overall, a great dive destination and a great resort that we will definitely visit again and that we can recommend to all divers!

Room Tip: All rooms have a different theme and are comfortable. Ocean views room have nice balconies and some...

Can't say enough great things about the Yapese and the hotel. Very casual and comfortable and incredible service. Staff is the BEST. We've travelled the world but hands down the Yapese are the warmest, kindest, sweetest people ever. Very comfortable hotel. Love the ship that services as breakfast room, dining room and crow's nest bar. Loved evening cocktails and dinner there every evening. Big diving crowd but as snorklers we had several great days in the water. Beautiful manta rays! Hotel could improve wifi connection though!

Wow, what an amazing place! The hotel is absolutely perfect: the rooms are spacious, the pool beautiful, the crew unbelievably friendly, the service is great. Restaurant Mnuw that is located on an old Indonesian ship serves the best sashimi I have ever had, fresh from the ocean. The connected dive shop is super professional, yet relaxed, with some of the best captains and guides I've ever met. The sites are breath-taking, as well as the sea life! We did a sharkfeeding dive which was one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. Overall, an incredible experience!!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with ocean view, it makes all the difference.

Delightful hotel with the added benefit of your own floating restaurant.
The hotel has large, themed rooms with a porch on the bay. The service is excellent and you are right in the center of town...but what isn't. The pub crawl of all the watering holes takes about 100 feet between three venues. O'Keefe's, the Sea Hawk (Manta Ray's floating restaurant), and a third place. Lots of internationals here, mostly divers.

Excellent tours from the Manta Ray. Valeria was exceptional. We did the Mangrove Swamp Tour where we snuck up on a swarm of fruit bats as well as the Snorkeling Tour, where we swam with manta rays.....watching them was like a spectral ballet.

Room Tip: I think they all are exceptional and individually themed.
