“Lovely Brunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2014

We had Brunch here on the weekend, staff were lovely and friendly and the Pancakes were delicious. It was a cold day outside but the restaurant was lovely and warm and busy.

“Nice for desert and coffee”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2014

A lovely evening but ruined at the end of the evening by a heavily intoxicated man coming into the restaurant and having a drink with his mate. He fell down twice. He was also looking aggressively at the three woman at our table. Better to not serve drunk customers and to ask them to leave for the comfort of other diners in a classy restaurant.

“Nice setting but lunch menu limited”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

The waitress had extremely limited knowledge about the food. The menu for lunch is rather limited and didn't really have anything that appealed to me. Had to ask for anchovies in the Caesar salad as they don't come with it and are not even mentioned on the menu! Good coffee

“Yay, beer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

We had just moved to New Zealand from San Diego, California, the mecca of craft beer. Needless to say, we were missing high abv, complex tasting beer. We popped into the Oxford and we're not disappointed. We had the Mahiki fries and the soup and we're happy with both. We will return frequently.

“Introduction to Timaru”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2014

The temperature was dropping and darkness falling as I arrived in Timaru for the first time in 30 years. A survey of the main commercial area quickly highlighted that The Oxford was a welcoming well lit and open design. No dingy blanked out windows, you could see the classy designed bar and bustle of staff through the large corner windows. Booking done, I returned around 6.30 to the pleasant hum of a popular spot. A corner table enabled me to watch the street scenes and the people within. The menu offers a well spread selection that should please any palate. The pork belly was sublime, meltingly tender and well accompanied with the support of the best sprouts, done with maple and bacon, that I have ever had.The staff are cheery, attentive (when needed) and efficient. From my delicious 3 course selection the chef is a master of flavour blending and the wine list offers some gems.
