Orewa Beach Top 10 Holiday Park
Certificate of Excellence

We stayed in a cabin for two nights. The cabin was clean and the size sufficient although car parking was tight. Sleep quality was good despite the cabin backing onto a major road. The showers, kitchen etc were all clean and staff very polite and helpful. The beach is very good and the park is reasonably well situated to Auckland's CBD. Shops located within easy walking distance. We used the camp ground as a stopover when travelling from the Bay of Islands to Wellington and would do so again.

Our first Holiday Park stay in New Zealand. Rented a cabin and found the facilities clean and well kept. Front office staff were friendly and gave us utensils to use. Washer and Dryer and clothesline were helpful. Close to town and beautiful beach location. Would go back again!

We have stayed in many holiday parks, with and without campervans. This park is clean and so are the facilities. But, we stayed in one of the four self contained cabins and they were very awkward. The layout is such that from the bed the sliding glass door to the porch can be well seen from inside the next cabin. At night one could not leave the curtains open, meaning the door also had to be shut, keeping the room warm. Same in reverse. From the kitchen one looked in, and could be looked upon by, the next cabin. Not much privacy. With the windows open for air there is a bit of a problem with early risers or late to go to bed people. These cabins are also on the road. The cabins themselves are nicely stocked and well furnished. But, for the money, compared to others we have been in, not quite as nice. Also, the internet, which we paid for, could only be used on one device. We have never had this problem before. They should not care. We paid for a certain bandwidth and should be able to use it on whatever devices until it is finished. Very inconvenient.

This is one of the better camping grounds close to Auckland. Sites are very close or on beach front and are large...easily able to fit our 7m campervan. Toilet and kitchen facilities are clean and well kept. has supermarket and liquor stores nearby. Good swimming and kayaking beach. Also can fish. Good bike riding options. Can hire kayaks from the campground. No extra charge for the showers and showers are good pressured and hot. We have been here 3 times this summer and we are living in Auckland. A good close option for a beach escape.

We decided to stay here after reading the reviews and we were very dissapointed. Granted the site was well situated right on a wonderful beach but the site was awful. The toilets were not to the high standard of the other Top 10 sites we stayed at, did not use the showers as there was such a long queue. The security guard at the entrance did not instil confidence. The pitch was cramped and having paid paid for a powered pitch we had problems finding a free power point, as did others who arrived after us. Unlike other top 10 sites there were a large number of static caravans which were at best in need of a lot of TLC. All on all not a good experience, luckily we were coming to the end of our holiday and had stayed in some wonderful sites so we knew this was the exception to the rule.

We (elderly couple) had a tourist flat cabin for 3 nights. People at the front desk were nice and helpful. The cabin was clean when we arrived, but not maintained during the 3 days. Unfortunately the 4 available cabins of this type are situated immediately aside the road with heavy traffic noise during day and night - not very relaxing! Internet access has to be payed for and is expensive: 5NZ$ for 2 hours, and if you do not need the 2 hours at once, the rest is gone until you want to login next time.

Room Tip: Cabins are exposed to heavy traffic noise. But most places to put a camper van might be close to wat...

We stayed here for the final 2 nights of our 5 week tour. It was chosen as much for its proximity to Auckland as anything else but proved to be a good final choice. good sized pitches so although busy it didn't feel cramped. The beach is lovely (& the sea here was the warmest of our trip). Camp facilities are good as expected at a Top 10 site. There are plenty of local bars and restaurants nearby.
