The restaurant itself is placed in the reception area of the Alpine motel. Even so, it did look like a restaurant with bar. The place was tidy and the smell outside was inciting. The single waitress was friendly and even though there was lack of staff, the wait time wasn't too bad.
With the mixed platter as the entree, we got a selection of appetisers. It was all alright. The coconut prawn didn't taste of coconut and the spring rolls looked like it was brought from the shops. The ribs however were really nice, especially the sauce.
With the mains we tried an item form each area. the pad thai was ok but needed more sauce. The fried rice looked wet but it was good. The curry was also lacking some flavour. The beef stir fried with garlic and pepper was a bit salty. Also the portion of rice that came with the meals was a bit small.
The restaurant had gotten a bit hot near the middle of the meal.
It is the best Asian food that I have had in Ohakune so far.
