Wow, we just had the best trip. Darren and Jane from Mountain Bike Station in Ohakune were absolutely brilliant. We wanted to cycle the Bridge to Nowhere track and ended up cycling from Turoa car park to Wanganui with a canoe trip in the middle and had the best time doing it over 4 days. Nothing was too difficult for Darren and Jane to organise. Their links and contacts gave us a fantastic itinerary with a perfect balance of adventure and luxury. Everything went to plan and last minute changes were no problem. Darren loves his mountain biking and having him along on the Mangapurua track meant we saw much more than the main sights. Their suggested accommodation along the way was perfect with us staying at the Ruatiti Backpackers, Bridge to Nowhere Lodge and the Flying Fox. We used two of our own bikes and rented another which was a great 29er in mint condition. This has to be one of the best holidays we've had and would stongly recommend it to anybody looking for an active holiday. Darren and Jane will have no problem organising a trip to suit all your needs and were just the easiest people to deal with.

Darren and Jane from Mountain Bike Station organized the Mountain to Sea Bike Ride for us including bike-hire, gloves, helmets, accommodation, food and transport (by van with bike trailer, by jet boat, and canoe). It all went without a hitch and we were free to just enjoy the ride! And what a ride! Steep down-hills, (and some up!) rugged scenery, and a range of terrain from quiet sealed roads to gravel roads to narrow mountain bike tracks and sheer bluffs where we had to get off and walk. Amazing views and an amazing 5 days. Get Darren to guide you on the Bridge to Nowhere and Whanganui River sections if you can. He is awesome and you will see and learn tons more. Ohakune to Wanganui by bike is fantastic.

We did the Ohakune Old Coach Road bike ride, 18km, took us just over 3 hours including lunch stop and plenty of photo stops. Beautiful, varied scenery as well as historical interest in the main trunk line and impressive old railway viaducts Very few uphill bits and within the capabilities of the slightly unfit and overweight. Darren and Jane were very helpful - they made it so easy to arrange. Would absolutely definitely recommend it, and would do it again - maybe next time doing the whole mountains to the sea ride.

Boy, we struck gold! Starting with cheap, honest and quick bike service, followed with free advice about the area and best bike tracks. We ended up changing from the 42km Traverse to Darren's recommendation of the Ohakune Old Coach Road. We did it both ways, and it was pretty tough, so a great achievement. Then at Jane's recommendation she took us up to the Turoa ski field base and we biked down - awesome way to bike.

Perhaps anyone could have fixed my bike, recommended a track,or given us a lift to the top of the Mountain ...but its the way Darren and Jane did it....with such pleasant enthusiasm, making sure always we were OK, pointing out landmarks we could have never known existed... nothing at all was too much trouble, we could do what we wanted when we wanted.

I have never ever written a review before, but Darren and Jane were so awesome, I feel compelled to do my little bit to ensure if you are intending to Mountain Bike in Ohakune....just give the Mountain Bike Station a call....you seriously will not regret it.

We had a good sized group of seven over two days including the Bridge to Nowhere. The ride was awesome and the service and support provided by Darren and Jane from Mountain Bike Station and Station Lodge made it even better. Darren provided the right amount of advice and support and the timing, pickups and hand-offs with other people organised by Darren and Jane worked perfectly. They are well organised, know their stuff and are genuinely great people. I will be going back to do more and I will also be doing Bride to Nowhere again a few years down the track, awesome ride. If you are looking at different potential options Bridge to Nowhere and other rides all organsied through Mountain Bike Station is a must, forget the rest and call them now to talk through the options, you will be more than happy.
