Friends and I stayed at Kings for 2 nights. The rooms are small and basic, but clean and warm with plenty of hot water when we needed it. Breakfast is basic continental but there is plenty of it. On second night we ate in restaurant/bar and the meals were great value and huge for the price. We would definitely eat there again. If you are young and into the party life you would probably enjoy Kings.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms out the back away from the bar if you want to sleep early

My wife and I stayed at Kings for a week with our two infant children and were very pleased with the room and the service. Tracy and her staff were very friendly, and went out of their way to keep us comfortable during our stay. They even had toys available for our son to play with while we ate in the restaurant. The room was comfortable, very warm, modern shower and cosy bedding. This is a good place to stay close to Turoa - the road up the mountain is only two streets away. Thanks for taking care of us Tracy!

We (myself & Husband) have just returned from a 2 night stay at King's - where we have stayed before on a number of occasions.

We got ZERO sleep both nights because of the racket coming from the bar (which was open til about 2am), music or bass, or all of the heavily intoxicated patrons drinking, horrifically swearing, having domestic arguments etc outside the bar til ~4am-ish. All of this was 100% audible from our room so needless to say, not much sleep was had.
After night 1, I politely enquired at reception if there was perhaps a different room that wasn't so close to the bar/ noise given how loud it had been. Despite the vacancy sign being out, the lady told me very unapologetically that this was not possible & tonight would be very busy & the bar would be open very late that night also.
- Breakfast was very basic & unappealing.
- Spa pools weren't working properly - In one, the water level was too low to operate & the other was not even luke warm.

Positives - Location (though there are plenty of alternatives in this part of town & after this experience we will be going to one of those),
- Our room was very well heated on arrival & throughout our stay (at some places you arrive to an icebox that is very difficult to heat up).
- Interior had a nice colour scheme, carpet looked new & nice, as did the paintjob.

We stayed @ Kings Ohakune for two nights in school holidays. We had a Queen ensuite and Twin ensuite. Rooms were spotlessly clean and warm. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, even let us keep the room past checkout on our last day when someone didn't want to get out of bed to ski. The bar was cosy, food as described and breakfast was all that was needed. Overall fantastic value for money as establishment is clean, warm, friendly and in a great location. We would recommend and definitely stay again.

Kings offers budget accommodation - we had a twin room - shared facilities for a three night - two day ski expedition. The rooms we had have just beds - nothing else. The beds were very comfortable. The room was exceptionally well heated via a central boiler system. The shared bathroom facilities were excellent, very modern with plenty of hot water for showers. Kings is located a couple of minutes walk from The Junction which features several cars and restaurants, including The Powderkeg, which is a favourite with skliers. A basic breakfast ( toast cereal tea/coffee etc) is included in the room price. Kings also has a bar/restaurant open from 4pm which offered a good range of food choices. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

I stayed here at Kings while on business for four nights. I was in a Queen en-suite, which consisted of pretty much a bed, table, and bathroom. The shower was small, but had great water pressure. I arrived on the last day of the ski season and, as a result, missed out on the restaurant and bar being open. My colleagues and I also never managed to find the continental breakfast. I heard great things about the spa and certainly enjoyed the great service of the owners. They were more than accommodating in finding me a space heater when I asked. My biggest suggestion would simply be to install small refrigerators in the units since things definitely shut down for much of the year out in this end of Ohakune and the 20+ minute walk into town each way isn't always a relaxing one. Oh - and bring ear plugs - the walls are quite thin...you may end up listening to the lullaby of your next door neighbor's tv or snoring at night.

We've just recently returned from our trip to Ohakune, where we were staying for two nights. Our room was #17, Queen en-suite. Of course there was no luxury, but everything was fine! Room was clean, radiator was working well. NO BED BUGS! :-) - we were afraid of them reading the reviews here before our trip. Breakfast is simple. The spa there is great to relax after an active day. At check-in we were given one discount voucher for the dinner at the bar and a discount for next booking. The food at the bar was fine and reasonably priced. Good value for money! We had great time there!

Room Tip: #17 is fine
