You can't get better value for a holiday in New Zealand.

You can have a private dorm room for $55 a night or an entire unit for $110 a night.

Right nex to the railway, great facilities.

My only complaint is that with the hardwood floors it means no matter how quiet guests are you will always here them walking around which means we were often woken by travellers waking up early to go cycling.

Stayed at the Station Lodge for 2 nights. Rooms, bathroom/shower and kitchen are all clean and well looked after. There are quite a few showers/toilets, so you never have to queue up. It is quiet and you can have a decent sleep there. The train station is a 2 minute walk away and the Naked Bus also stops there. It is about a 30 minute walk to the town centre but it is a pleasant walk and you can hire bikes from the Station Lodge. The Old Coach Road trail is nearby. I would stay there again and so recommend it.

We (two couples) stayed in a chalet over Labour Weekend and cycled the Old Coach Road for the second time. This was our second time staying at Station Lodge. Darren was very helpful taking us to the Horopito end of the ride (at a very reasonable price) and along the way gave us some very good information on other rides in the area which we are already keen to do. He even managed to make sure the weather was fine on Saturday just for us.
The chalet itself was excellent, clean and well looked after, and had everything that we needed, especially the hot tub which we were very grateful to use at the end of our ride!
We heartily recommend the Station Lodge as a great place to stay, and Darren and Jane as excellent hosts.

We had a fantastic time staying at Station Lodge for 5 nights. The facilities are perfect for a large group size of school students (34 and 8 adults), clean and tidy all in a beautifully restored lodge and gave excellent value for money that I imagine would be unbeatable in Ohakune. It is very handily located near to shops, restaurants and Turoa ski field and the owners are extremely helpful and went out of the way to ensure the trip ran smoothly and to budget. The on site rental shop was an added bonus, with quality gear ready to go as soon as we arrived, again unbeatable value. We will definitely be booking again in the future, thanks for an enjoyable stay!

Booked double bedroom. Thats all you get. One double bed with bottom sheet and two pillows with slips. No other furniture. Just the cental heating on the wall that works on timer. Was warm enough even for a single person. Tock my duck down duvet (continental quilt) and woolen blanket. The blanket was too much. Shared facilities/shower toilet/clean. No lines even with plenty of guests. Two lounge areas with TVs, plenty of kitchen space, large fridge. There was school group of teens staying on my visit. The girls played up untill finally their care givers managed to silence them. Train noise the lesser of the two. If your on a budget or just cant see why you should pay for a motel when all you want is a bed to sleep in then this is a good choice. Bars and food handy. If the snow keeps on falling I shall return.

Room Tip: Ask for number 7. Its the furtherest from the rail.

We arrived freezing cold after a day on the mountain with three wee children. Our chalet had already been heated for us so it was lovely and warm.
The spa pool had been turned on and was already so the children went straight into that while the adults sorted dinner.
The sofas were so comfortable none of us wanted to leave the next day and the children said they wanted to stay forever.

We stayed in the apartment for a week. It was clean, modern and warm. Fully functional kitchen, so we could make most of our meals at the apartment before we go out in the evenings.
Nice and private, so it feels like being at home.
I will definitely be staying there on my next trip!
