We had a wonderful stay at the Manuka lodge. The hosts were very friendly, made a dinner reservation for us at a great restaurant that was walking distance, and an awesome hot breakfast in the morning. The house was spotless and our room was very comfortable. Highly recommended for trips to Tongaririo National park.

I'm a stay at home mom traveling without kids for three weeks. We stayed for three rainy days at the Manuka Lodge. There's not a whole lot to do in the central part of the North Island on a rainy day. Alan and Susie provided us with a comfortable lounge area to relax in while we waited out the rain. They also did all the leg work of rearranging our bookings for our activities during the incelmate weather, as well as made suggestions for short excursions during the brief luls in the rain.

And the best part (dont' laught too hard) coming from a mom who does laurndry on a daily basis, someone else (Susie) did MY laundry for ME!

We stayed here in combination with the Alpine Crossing. We were welcomed by Susie and Alan really made us feel welcome. Alan made a superb lunch for the crossing and after our walk Susie made sure we were refreshed.
The location is perfect and the room were excellent! We really enjoyed our stay here!

I am in complete agreement with the other reviews, Mauka Lodge is a wonderful haven. It is bright, modern and airy, with a fantastic guest lounge to relax in. We did the Alpine Crossing package, which took care of all the organisation necessary for the walk inlcuding transport and a picnic lunch. Upon our return from the walk (which I would highly recommend), we were treated to a cold beer and a soak in the outdoor hot tub - bliss!

We were looking for a good spot to combine the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and a day canoeing on the picturesque Whanganui River and we are very glad to have decided to stay at Manuka Lodge B&B in Ohakune.
Susie and Alan are superb hosts. They did a great job with their B&B: the room was spacious and tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast came with freshly baked bread and variety of other things plus the option of a full cooked breakfast. The hosts take good care of their guests and we benefited from their support in booking hiking and canoe activities during our stay.
For the Tongariro Crossing we got picked up in front of the B&B and dropped of there in the evening. Susie even made us some packed lunch for the day hike! And we celebrated our achievement in the evening with Susie and Alan and some other guest (who happened to do the same hike that day) on the veranda. The place also has a Spa bath tub in the garden to relax in.
All together this made a very pleasant stay in this excellent B&B we can highly recommend.

We choose to stay here for 3 nights after reading the Trip Advisor reviews. We weren't dissapointed at all. Susie and Alan make wonderful hosts and take great care with attention to detail. They were also able to provide lots of tips and suggestions of the local area. The rooms are plush and comfortable. The fittings and bedding are superior quality. We enjoyed the option of being able to have our own privacy and amenities in our room or to mingle with other guests in the guest lounge and patio. Manuka Lodge is perfectly positioned for all the outdoor pursuits - both winter and summer - the area offers and they are located conveniently to walk into the cafes in town.
I would recommend this for couples looking for somewhere quietand relaxing.

Knowledgeable hosts about all aspects of the area, walking, canoeing ,dining. The B&B aspect is something we rarely partake of, but the breakfast here is not be missed. A new property slightly above the top of the " 4 Fern" rating. We went in December and the town as a whole is quiet, I am sure in the ski season this would be an excellent choice. I have only skied in Europe and North America and can see the potential for winter sports here.
