“DO NOT STAY HERE”
Reviewed December 21, 2013

Do not stay here under any circumstances.

I made a booking in late October for two rooms, for two people, myself and my husband and my cousin. The total amount I paid was AED 1,770.

When we arrived at the hotel we were told we were being upgraded to two super-deluxe rooms, 505 and 506.
However, on entering the rooms, we were disgusted by their condition.
-- There was an overpowering smell of damp coming from mould that was clearly visible all over the walls next to the beds, which were wet to touch.
-- There were open electricity sockets on these damp walls with exposed wires, and when we moved the bed, we saw weeks worth of dirt on the floor.
-- The paint work was chipped, the carpet and furniture stained, and in the bathrooms the grouting around the bath and sinks was black with mould.

After finding the rooms in such a poor state, we returned to reception to complain, noting that as we came out of the lift half the ceiling was missing and an electric light was perilously suspended in some MDF above our heads, and from which wires were hanging down.

Next to the lift, a step ladder laid down on the floor was the only barrier to a building site, where cables were also hanging, and brickwork was exposed.

We called the manager, who gave his name as Mansoor Ali. He defended the appearance of the reception and told us it was perfectly safe, refusing to acknowledge our concerns about the exposed wires.

He then offered to show us a different apartment, which had two bedrooms, instead of the two separate rooms we had booked.
This was on the fourth floor, which was clearly of a higher standard than the fifth floor. The room itself was better, but there was still an overwhelming smell of damp, and the paintwork was chipped and the carpets stained.

At this point, while we were deciding whether to take this room or not, Mr Ali became very defensive and told us it was not his fault that the rooms on the fifth floor were mouldy, and that it was because a previous guest that morning had opened the window and allowed condensation to build up.

We did not find this to be an acceptable explanation and we were disappointed that Mr Ali should wish to blame a guest, rather than accept responsibility, as manager, for the poor condition of the rooms. Moreover, we received no apology from Mr Ali about the state of rooms he had intended us to stay in.

He offered us a free breakfast (something I thought was actually included in my booking, though I was told on arrival it wasn't) but we did not feel, given the poor state of cleanliness of the rooms, that we wanted to consume any food that had been prepared on the premises.

Following much discussion - during which time we heard another staff member mutter under his breath "I would not pay to stay here either" - we decided not to stay in the hotel for the following three reasons.

1 - Health - the damp and mould in the rooms would have been detrimental to our health and tainted our clothes and luggage. We were concerned that the A/C units would be dirty and we did not want to sleep in rooms so badly ventilated.
2 - Safety - the reception area was in a perilous state and we wondered whether the building was even structurally sound, whether the lifts serviced regularly and if there were working fire alarms.
3 - Manager's attitude - his refusal to apologise and then his defensive and aggressive tone blaming other guests for the poor state of the hotel.

Mr Ali told us he was unable to authorise a refund to my credit card because we had made the booking online.
He refused to give us the name of the hotel owner and said he could not contact him.

A week later, I contacted the hotel to ask for a refund, they said this would be processed.
I was also contacted by Booking.com for an explanation about why the hotel had "cancelled" my booking in their system.

Close to two months later, I am still waiting for my refund, which I was told on more than one occasion would be "processed today".

Do not stay at this hotel under any circumstances!

This is a very old building. Furnished one but furnitures and utensiles are very old. Air conditioners are and without any control mechanism. Swimming pool timing is odd.9am to 6pm so not useful for visitors.

I was slightly apprehensive about using this hotel apartment for a 3 night weekend stay in Fujairah because of the low price - 150 dhs per night for a one bed flat. At that price, I was expecting something very third rate. However, we found the flat extremely good value and the faults were fairly minor bearing in mind the extremely low price. Reception were welcoming and friendly and we were upgraded to a Superior apartment - I was not quite clear if this was different from the regular one we had booked, or if it was the same, but on a higher floor (fifth). The hotel is well-situated in the main high street and equidistant from the beach area and the largest mall - both 5 mins drive. The apartment was probably larger than a regular one bed flat, with a fully fitted open-plan kitchen with everything you could possibly want, including microwave and kettle. The large fridge/freezer looked practically brand new. The pool on the roof was ok, though small and rather stark surroundings. On the Fri morning we had it to ourselves. I don't think the gym/sauna facilities were actually available when we were staying.

Minor complaints: rather mean on towels - a smallish/medium one each. The bathroom grouting had mould. The sofa set and rug were a bit stained and the sofa bed was broken. To be fair, we had booked for two people and at the last minute our daughter came, so there were three. Reception offered us an extra bed for 25 dhs per night, but when we found that one of the sofas was a sofa bed we told them we would use that. It was a bit rickety and the second and third nights we just used the larger sofa, which was fine. Bedding for this was provided, but we weren't charged any extra.

Other minor complaints - wifi charged at 15 dhs per day but kept cutting out, which was inconvenient as I was trying to do some banking stuff and also to book an airline ticket, and had to try a few times - wasn't sure whether my transactions had gone through or not The tables at the end of the pool area were dirty. The balcony overlooking the street wasn't really a place you could sit because of the ugly, noisy a/c machines positioned at each end.

For those who like to watch TV in bed, there is no TV in the bedroom, only in the lounge.

If you are not expecting 4 or 5 star decoration and furnishing but want a cheap place and spacious place to stay where there are catering facilities, then Emirates Springs is highly recommended.

Room Tip: As high as possible and maybe not on main road if you want to use the balcony.

I visited the Emirates Springs Hotel Appartments with my family at the beginning of April staying in a 2 bedroom apartment. Previous reports state the furnishings are "tired" I would describe them as positively exhausted, the Formica was peeling off the units, our bedside lamp was stitched loosely on to its mount, there was a massive tear at the back of one chair and a cigarette burn on the sofa that had seen better days. The en suite toilet spread onto the floor after flushing, and when my husband went to use the shower in the other toilet the ceiling itself turned into a shower. The kitchen units were falling to bits and the equipment supplied was limited and dated to say the least. At the moment the hotel is going through a considerable program of renovation and really has the potential to be a good hotel. On the positive side - the staff are very efficient and helpful (they get plenty of practice) the washing machine and beds were new (mattresses at least). We used the rooftop pool several days but as it was being enjoyed by young families so we chose to use The Hilton Hotel facilities which included a buffet lunch at a very reasonable price. Fujeirah itself is excellent for all kinds of water sports but otherwise not really geared up for tourism. Roads are being built/dug up, tourist maps are vague and sign posts random. Would we visit Fujairah again ? possibly not. We booked through RCI and were disappointed that the hotel and facilities were so extremely below the standard we have come to expect, we were aware the hotel had no award level attached - but it is not of a reasonable quality and the web pages promoting the hotel are out of date so deliberately misleading.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere !

I spent 3 days here with my family. We took a 2 bedroom suite and the suite was very spacious yet cosy. The staff is friendly. While the hotel food is good, it is very well situated and there are ample of eating joints in less than 500m. The view from the balcony of the ocean has a wonderfully stress buster effect. It is a great place for a weekend getaway. It is walking distance from the marina boat club and most of the water activity places.

Room Tip: Make sure you take a room facing the ocean

We stayed at Emirates Springs Hotel Apartments for one night during a weekend outing to Fujairah. The best thing about the hotel is the tremendous value for money it provides. We booked 2 two bedroom apartment for less than $100!

The rooms are clean and the furniture is pretty decent. The rooms on the backside of the hotel (not facing the main street) are quieter and offers a 'view' of the Fujairah corniche.
Snacks and a few drinks are available in the room which are fairly priced.

The location of the hotel is nice as it is right on a main street and has numerous restaurants, supermarkets in its vicinity.

Few not so good things, the room service can take its own sweet time and there was no separate AC control for the rooms, one single control for the entire apartment.

Overall a good value for money hotel, would stay again if looking for a budget stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side of the hotel are quieter and offer a decent view of the Fujairah Corniche.

We have stayed with my family in Emirates Springs Hotel and it's really worth the price. When we arrive, we were welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff at the reception. We were surprise to our room because it's very spacious, clean, well-equipped kitchen, and have a home-like atmosphere..The location of the hotel was at the city itself. It is near to supermarkets, shopping centers, restaurants, and beach. We had our dinner at the Al Roof Restaurant which is located on the roof top and adjacent to the Swimming pool. There are various choices of menu at very reasonable price and delicious.. After our dinner, we relaxed at the pool area while having our tea and coffee. The view surrounding the hotel was very nice. It is a perfect get-away from the busy schedule. The hotel also have separate gym for ladies and gents with sauna bath facility. They were having renovation to make the reception lobby more spacious to accommodate guests more comfortable. We will definitely come back and stay in this hotel again..

Room Tip: Executive Suites are more spacious and elegant furniture and facilities.
